craig250889
hi im 5 ft 6 inches tall and am deciding what size frameto go for next 20" or 26" i need help would be grateful for a reply. thanks
ManxTrialSpaz
Height doesn't really matter, I'm nearly 6' and I'm on a 20". It mainly depends on what you want, not what everyone else is telling you. The best advice is to ride someone elses 20" and a 26" trials bike and decide what you want to go for. If you can only get your hands on a 20" or only a 26", it's porbably best to go for that bike unless you hate it. Reason for that is you can share tips and generally talk about trials as you're both on the same bike. Another thing to consider is how far away is the nearest ride spot or the best spot, if it's really far away, get a 26" as it has gears so you don't have to pedal to your location in your trials gear which takes forever, unless it's all down hill . Don't soley base your bike on this choice as it's not really an issue unless you have to ride for miles before you get to where you're going. In the end, it doesn't really matter what size you go for too much, as the end result is trials and is the same, watch a mod movie and a stock one and they'll be doing the same kinda moves, it's just the technique which is microscopically different. The biggest choice you're going to have to make is your frame choice, as it is the frame whether it's 20" or 26", it's the frame which changes the ride.I@t's early in the moriing, I've just woken up, so you can't have a go at me if I'm talking bollox
Apocalypse_reaper666
Hers some VERY GOOD advixe posted by another member in a old topic: Apr 15 2006, 04:14 PM Post #1 Rich JGroup: MembersJoined: 11/09/2005From: wantageMember No.: 7907Bike Ridden : Multiple Choosing the right bike is very important. If you choose a bike that is completely unsuitable then it could effect you riding in a big way and stop you getting anywhere near your full potential. So heres a guide to making sure you get the right bike for you every time.First you need to decide on the type of riding you are going to be doing, downhill, freeride, dirt or in this case trials. When you have done this you need to know some information about yourself. You need to consider factors like weight, height, arm length. This needs to be thought about because some bikes are weaker than others and unless you are a very smooth rider it could crack or snap. Also your general size could decide whether you ride a stock or mod. I know a 18 stone man who rides a mod but generally bigger people ride stocks smaller people ride mods. If your inbetween or undecided on what to ride have a go on both.Once you have decided what type of bike you are going to ride its now time to start looking at the range available. There are endless styles and sizes of bikes so its best to look around. The internet is a good place to do this as you can find loads of information on the bikes such as suggested riders size. this is good because some bike wont be suitable for your riding no matter who you are. When you have found bikes that you think are suitable go ride them any bike shop should let you try them out. Or you could try some of your mates bikes out see what you think of them. Once you have found your bike look around prices will differ so look for offers and sales you could also look in the for sale/ wanted section on here for some amazing bargins. When you have bought your new bike go ride and enjoy it!Hope this helps RichThis post has been edited by dickj: Apr 15 2006, 04:16 PM the above was wrote by another member not me i just copy and pasted it to help. trial-biker-ryan
i personaly would say start 20" its alot easyer because the bike will be smaller and lighter, but it depends on your personal prefrance. you should go to a trials shop and try out differant types of bike. chris mac
20" all the way, im 6ft 3 and i ride a mod. i way prefer the style and ride of a 20" in comparison to a 26". but at the end of the day 20" is alot easyer to do all of them realy compicated trials moves. B.E.A.U
Its completely your own preference, 20" is considered easyer because of the smaller wheels which make it easyer for side hops etc, where as 26" is better for taps etc. But mods are more fun though even though i ride stock mods are just fun to ride when your bored.
