Sidhops?

trials cred

Recommended Posts

Iv got to a point where i can't sidehop any higher. I can sidehop about 32". I keep hitting my front wheel on the wall. When I sidehop I land on my front wheel. Is it better to land on both wheels at the same time? Has anyone got any vids of big sidehops so i can have a look at your technique.

Thanks for your help :)

now im not the best person at sidehops but im O.K at them i suppose anyway....

if you want to sidehop up high things then it helps alot if you kneel right down to the bike BUT...

if in a comp then you dont realy need to sidehop on to both wheels just hop to bashgaurd/ring, obviousley it looks better to both wheels but thats your opinion because in mine its still a sidehop

thanks :)(Y)

hello,

I'm not the great at sidehops but here go's, basically i find it best to take one big pedal kick into the sidehop then crouch right down to the rear tyre then just kick and jump/throw all the weight and power up and to the side. This way you still have lots of power and momentum to fly up there.

Bhups.

Practise doing the sidehops that you are able to do now but to two wheels as you will then find it easier to do it to front wheel. They when you come to doing larger ones you should be able to do them to the front wheel. Hope you get what I mean.

on a mod it isn't effective to jump on the front wheel first, try to jump on both wheels.

There are several options to jump higher, eg you could try to get closer to your bike (try to stretch before you ride) or you can try to jump higher at all. If you want to do that the best way is to get your butt closer to the rw, this should always help..

a video would be pretty helpful..

I find its all about confidence on committing up to the front wheel, mines improved loads recently and i'm finding bar height a lot easier and higher is coming slowely. Crouching low and lowering your front wheel a bit before you explode upwards helps a lot, it seems to go against the logic to get higher, lower the front wheel, but i find it stretches your arms out as much as possible meaning you can pull up harder and longer, getting more energy going into getting the bike going upwards.

I'm going to try that now :Plol , I'm pretty sure theres some video's on trashzen website which might prove useful if not just keep practising (Y)
