onzatprodude
make sure the disk is perfectly in the middle between the pads, use washers to adjust it. also dont pull the brake in while the disk isnt there, it moves the brake pads in and i think (if your brake is hydraulic) it breaks the pistons so ive been told.fergie
DAB
HeyI m riding a Monty 221pr 06 Front Diskthe problem is every time i take the front wheel off (held with a quick release)and put it back on the disk rubs with the brakei hav to keep playing around with it and it takes hours and hours and most of the time it still rubs i was wondering if anyone could help me with itthanks alot If you keep playing around with it, it'll never settle.. take the caliper off the forks and push both pistons back in to the caliper, then make sure that the wheel is in right, then put the caliper on the disc (but not bolted to the fork) then pump the lever till you get the the normal feeling.. with the brake lever still on (so the caliper holds it self to the disc) re-shim and bolt the caliper to the fork. When you do this the caliper should be where it wants to be and should be in the center.. as for rubbing theres not to much that you can do, as disc brakes are prone to warping and the pistons have a habit of sticking some times and need pushing back to re-center them selfs..Hope that helps.. if not it's off to a bike shop..... Wright Pads
Can and could be a few things1 The axle is bent or loses, not spaced corrently2 Forks could be bent, dropoutrs or disc mount3 Caliper could be bent4 Disc could be bent5 The disc mount (iso) on the hub could be damigedHave you faced the mount? Have you tried new bolts incase they are bent along with new washers. It be highly unlikly you've gotten it so hot and the pads have warraped but it known to of happen in the past on the 4 pot stuff being Xc4, DH4 and M4. Major long draggin sessions downhill is what caused that!!I'd be happy to have a gander on a rider or if your local mate. If it's just the odd bit of disc rub like 3/4 of a wheel rotation and it then rub it's a WARRPED disc, can bend it back or getnly tap it with a rubebr or nylon mallet. Most bikes new out the box requries this, technical name is trasportantion distorshion.....so is what the Spechalized Bikes rep calls it as all there Rock Hoper Sport Disc models have to be given this treatment!!!
