Davetrials
Right ive recently switched to a front magura, and have the exact same set up as my rear, why does the brake not only lack power, but ive also never had a front maggie which squeaks , why is this, my pads honk like a bitch on the back, its also the same rim front and rear? CurtisRider
assuming by same setup you mean grind, 4 bolts and pads?grinds will always lead to a squeak in my experience, luckily my rear brake only squeaks when you go backwards however my front grind squeaks like feck as for lack of power, probably just a poor setup? or maybe those pads/the rim are contaminated? DAB
If you don't have a booster on the front that will lead to poor braking.. and the normal, right set up and bleed.. If you get it right the front should always be more powerful the back...
PaRtZ
Could be just the pads? Try swapping them over (front and back) to see if they still squeakNo other ideas really
Tony Harrison
I had a good setup with a Magura, red standard pads and a lightly ground rim. It'll never be as good as a disk, and not as good as a rear Magura, probably because forks are more flexy, etc. Still, didn't I see a video of Tunni doing gaps to front wheel on rails with a Maggie? Fishy
My magura is gay like that, I don't understand why either...Edit: Just thought, it could be because the way the wheel turns and where the brake it, if that makes sense, so for example, wouldn't it be more powerful if it was on the other side of your forks? Dr. Nick Riviera
yeah , which is why i've got reverse mount forks .have you tried setting it up again?
ogre
yeah , which is why i've got reverse mount forks .Bit off topic, but could you get reverse mount frames, so the magura is a bit more protected, i know it would be a bitch to set up but it could be quite good in theory... benno
couldn't hurt to rebleed it, maggies can have air sucking all the power without feeling squashy.
PaRtZ
Bit off topic, but could you get reverse mount frames, so the magura is a bit more protectedJust a bit You mean like on some bmx's, its on the bottom "wishbone" (if thats the word? sorry lol )OR you could run duel maguras!!! 2 magura sets, one in normal position, one underneath or on chain stays imagine the power! Also imagine the headache of setting it up
