Need Some Advise On A Foot Injury

Michael Hardman

Recommended Posts

I've had a pain in my foot for about 3 weeks now and its across the top of my foot, just above the toes.

The pain goes away over the night and as soon as I do a bit of walking or riding it comes back and stays until I go to sleep.

I got told a nasty story about someone who thought nothing of there injured wrist for months onylt o find out the bone had rotted and had to be cut off, Im not doctor so I dont know how much bullshit ther eis to that story.

I dont know what to do and whether to see a GP for which I dont have one as I was at uni or go to hospital, which I dont really want to do as thats a whole day wasted.

Any adive would b enice.

Go to hospital and get it checked out. Better finding out it is nothing, then waiting and making it get worse, if you see where I'm coming from?

If you do want to leave it, just rest it. And if that doesn't make any difference go get it checked out. Better to be safe than sorry.

Lol Im pissing myslef that might turn them off.

Im going docs 2morra even though Im not registrered there anymore.

The horror story was probably true- the weeny little bones in your wrist / ankle dont get a good blood supply if they get damaged and eventually they die off - which means bone grafts and a long, long time off your bike.

It's probably too late for A&E now (24 hours is the limit there usually) so definitely head down to the doctor and get it poked at. Ask for an X-ray, and pretend it hurts more than it really does when they poke it or they'll just send you packing.

It's true. It's quite a common thing to miss a fractured scaphoid (one of the small wrist bones) on an x-ray, and if the doc does miss it then you can stop the blood supply and you're in trouble. Dunno how common it is tohugh. Maybe you'd have to have an operation on it later. I doubt you'd lose your hand though.

But yeah, get it checked out. Go to a GP. If you're not registered with them, you can get an appointment as a temporary resident (and the bill goes to your normal GP). I've only ever had to do that once but it was very easy. No point pretending it hurts more than it does though. Funnily enough the doctors do stuff that's in your best interests.

Strange theres no swelling, both feet fell the same, I can move my toes on both feet ithout a problem.

Also when I put any shoe on with laces it will start to hurt from walking aslo those lace less low cut shoes hurt becasue there so loose. I think its my shoes as there all wvery old and have no support.

You should still defnitely pay a visit to the doctor - despite my earlier misgivings about GPs - a fractured scaphoid (apparently) just feels like a sprained wrist - which real men just ignore - and you've got very similar silly little bones in your ankle.

Slightly off topic, I get a sort of tickling feeling in my right index finger and when I click it (sort of crack the bone with the other hand) it feels better then comes back after a while. :ermm: anyone know whats up?
