montyrider
I think that trials competitions being pushed into the commonwealth games might be a good idea. Although i could argue both sides of this statement. The benefits of trials competitions being part of the commonwealth games is that our sport will benefit alot because their will be places built to accomodate our sport and councils will really push kids into getting more active and healthy by encouraging them to take part in a sport, and the public who previously hated us e.g.(police and grannys) will or may accept the sport. More companies may/will get involved in desining/manufacturing parts which in some cases may be stronger and cheaper than todays products.Another benefit i can see is that the competitions would be amazing to watch in 2-3games time because so many more people from all over our world would be watching and competing to be the winner worldwide unlike nowadays when its only trials riders who know who is the world champ which im not saying is a bad think at all.Can anyone see any other benefits of or downsides too this? What are peoples views on this? anyone agree dis-agree? i was thinking about this at work today, and thought it might be a topic for discussion cheers guys Edited April 10, 2006 by montyrider
louth trials 2006
Nw then,I think you have a good idea there and i don't see why its not already in the commonwealth games or even the olympic games.I feel it would make our sport more widely known and specific trials parks will be built. As trials would then become more known as you say parts will become cheaper as more companies make trials parts.I would definatly like to see a push to get trials into the commonwealth games and make the sport more well known.Tom
Lee Cable
I agree, it would promote the sport substationally. One of the downsides would be to the parents of the children that want to start bike trials. It would be a repeat of the free running idea. People would start. Spend all there money on getting a decent bike. Then quit. Also it would become like a competition, if you didnt have a decent bike you will probably get bullied about it.From Lee
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
It takes alot of commitment to ride trials and learn. If you have the comitment to learn, you WILL learn, if you dont, you WONT learn...People dont understand trials is a hard sport, so people get a bike and suddenly think they will be like vincent. but once they get on, and fall off a few times, they stop riding n shit.So if the sport went into the commonwelth, people will just buy bikes for the sake of it... wtpchris
Yeh, i totally agree with you. It would bring so much coverage and possible more respect to riders and just generally people riding their bikes. These days people either respect what you are doing, or just apply the stereotype and think you are a trouble maker. Definitely a good idea, if they put darts into the commonwealth games, then Trials/bmx etc should definitely be in there!
