Matt_Tupman
just i hate being treated like a slave Live with it mate! unless your self imployed or have a very nice boss (very rare ) then expect to be worked like a dog boy! the trick is to make them think your being worked like a dog
Mark W
The trick is to not get a shit job, or if you do, to learn how to like it On Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays I do evening shifts at a local supermarket just doing shelf-stacking, and then 9-4 on Sundays (time and a half ). I get on really well with everyone I work with, and the time flies by. It's just cool, really. Met loads of people at work who'd come back from uni last Sunday, and just basically didn't work myself too hard (blagged a shift with no supervisor, so I do work, but no-one knows how much comes in on the delivery, and therefore no-one but me knows how much I've done, so I'm free and easy). It's amazing how long you can make a small task last, e.g. cleaning a spilt product up It's not like a career or anything (althoguh they want me to go to supervisor, and then it's into management territory ), but it's £5+ per hour (£7.50+ per hour on Sundays, obviously), and it's easy work with fun people. Not like it's a problem. Looking forward to blowing hundreds of quid of my pay cheque once a month is pretty good, even though the skint-last-week isn't
RicH_87
haha mark your job is exactly the same as mine, excepy i work 8-5 sunday, and 4 nights a week.I banned myself from saturdays becasue they are shite, plus its the only day i can ride really.i've been there so long that the new supervisor relies on me a lot of the time but he apparently slagged me off really bad last sunday so i've been ignoring him and just doign what i want. Its such a petty place to work though, all the management have petty digs at the sueprvisors, and the supervisors in turn have petty digs at us staff. Its so retarded. Most people there are cool though and its easy money (5.16 and hour for doing not a lot). Its cool on holidays when the uni guys come back and it's just like old times. (man i really need to get a proper job).so yeh, 14 year old dude, get out there and get a job at any old place, local chippy or something would be a good place to start. You'll be so glad you got a 'proper' job. And all you mates will be doing the same thing soon anyway. Your always gonna be treasted like shit at any place you work so you might as-well suck it up now and get used to it. Its gonna be a long time before your top dog and can shit on everyone else below you.
Mark W
Yeah, the management are like that here. I fired out some pellets earlier on that probably were more intelligent than the duty-managers and store manager combined. However, it's like the supervisors are an umbrella that covers us staff from the showers of shit the management throw at us The supervisors are all really sound, and know we're sorta with them, so they tend to fight their/our corner a bit more when the management are being dicks. Either way, it's all good. On Sundays they have a rota for the DM's, so it's a new person every week, meaning sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad. Fortunately, most of them couldn't tell their arses from their elbows, so they just go "Um... could you move the cages out of the way out back, then work the crisp portacabin", so I sort the cages and just work the crisps at a fairly relaxed pace. Get two 15min breaks on Sunday too, which tend to get stretched out a little Either way, work doesn't have to be shit. I loved my bikeshop job (sorta), right up until the bailiffs came and took all of our stock
