CBProductions
After watching a lot of TRA videos and pictures of other riders I notice that it gets to a stage where they are really stretching their bodies to the max. I'm curious what sort of training everyone does to increase either : A) Their balance or Their flexability or both. Also does anyone do mental training ? Cheers in advance C
PaRtZ
I think TRA mostly does pylometrics? if its called that...Basically its like weight training but with springiness instead of pure musclePersonally I cba I jsut ride alot: improves springiness + technique at the same time
Jez
Balance: picking my way across a sea of flightcases (that are rolling around on wheels) at work.Flexibility: packing said flightcases into tiny spaces at awkward angles into a van, then realising that we forgot to put the ladders/ramp/whatever in, and I have to go crawling through a tiny space to get the front of it in...Seriously though, not a thing bar the usual stuff riding to and from work, although years ago I used to walk along any thin fence/wall/whatever I could find for the sake of it. Nothing serious though.
Monty_Man_Stoive
what do you do for a job jez?I go down the gym at least 3 times a week and im quite built and i ride at any given opportunity, i do abit of free running with some mates for a laugh, but it helps with balance and agility, but mainly just ride and work out I also do hip hop, street and breakdancing, mainly sort of popping and locking and b-boyin, but that helps alot with balance! A simple thing to try is hand stands, keep practicing them until u can do it for ages

NeillyB
I find that lifting a full pint of beer from a table up to my mouth a few times over the weekend helps me with my overall stamina and general strength greatly

CBProductions
Well mental training , sort of like being able to commit to a move more and having faith in your components e.t.c. I used to have a lot more faith when I was starting out but im less confident now. I suppose like all those chinese warrior people who break houses with their heads , they must do a lot mental wise ? Damon W
if i think i can do something ile genrally try it mental courage should be judged on riding ability
Chris Walls
I go down the gym at least 3 times a week and im quite built and i ride at any given opportunity, i do abit of free running with some mates for a laugh, but it helps with balance and agility, but mainly just ride and work out How long do you work out for every time you go to the gym?? I did start doing a basic workout on my arms and chest for a little while but then i stopped . I think i will start again, need to get abit stronger .Cheers Chris
Concussion
I think so hard about a certain `move` that it usually blends into my dreams and does really help actually! ~Weird~Yeah` that's me!
Janson
i stretch my legs after i ride, otherwise i become stiff like an old man. fact.
Monty_Man_Stoive
i usually workout for AT LEAST 2 hours on each visit to the gym, working all muscle groups, especially upper body, pectorals, abz, forearm, biceps and triceps and also the leg muscle groups, you to could have muscles like me one day chris lol
N.Wood
I dunno how good of a rider you are, but unless you're right at the top of your game you'd be better off spending time on your bike rather than doing mental training. I do nowt, apart from going to the gym for a couple of hours with school. I try to do as many excersises that work my forearms and back muscles as possible. But other than that i do nothing. munkee
This has been said a bazillion times before on the forum.. but streatching will help a lot. It doesnt have to be done before you go riding.. just as your coasting along lean back over the rear wheel as far as you can and get a good stretch for your back chest and arms. Simple enough to do.. Chris Walls
you to could have muscles like me one day chris lolHa Ha Ha!!! That shoudnt take too long lol. Jez
I'm a sound engineer/system tech (when they let me out of the warehouse), although technically I spend most of my time prepping and deprepping the gear before and after it goes out. They sometimes force me to do lighting as well. What do you guys do then?
nafan
I find that stretching before and after rides helps with flexibility, and also with some you can realise when you have increased (or decreased) your flexibilitytity...Nathan (The above word is a real word and is NOT a spelling error)
DAB
The best excise i found for trials is ti-che for tendon strenght. a bit of yoga for flexibility and symetrics for muscle training... and drink lots of water based drinks (ie not coke)
