Is Anyone Else Unlucky?

Hello boys and girls,

I received my Monty 221pr frame just a week ago and I took it to the bike shop to get the bottom bracket and the headset fitted.

Everything was going great till I got it home. I began to put on the forks and the stem then I put on my new bars, and I have a try all stem and echo tough bar and they didn’t fit.

So I when onto clean bikes and ordered a Monty 221pr stem.

I then try fitting my chain and I was removing the links to make my chain shorter and I had one link to put in and everything was going to be ok; but then I drop the link and my dog ate it :$ !!!!!!!!!!

So as you could imagine I was really pissed, so I when on to tartybikes and ordered a new chain (more Money I had to spend).

Anyway the stem and the chain arrived today so I fitted the stem and I was thinking everything was going to be plan sailing from there on in. But no my forks didn’t run flush with my stem (try all forks, Monty 221pr stem) so I had to do a little ‘bodge job’ to keep the stem cap in place!

So I thought ok one little problem not bad then I when onto fitting my chain. So I removed some links, got everything fitting ok went to push the link into the chain to secure it round my frame and my chain tool snapped!!!!!!!!!!

So it got me thinking do any of you lot have really bad luck?

Thanks a lot Charlie (Y)

I had some trouble building my Zona..

Guess that's unlucky.

Got the frame.. lovely.

Started stripping down my T-Poo, all going well, Bottom bracket out, Bash off, Everything else off.

Got the BB in the Zona, all cleaned up with lots of grease. - Tool slipped and scrathed my frame.

Got my Pig headset on after a good bashing :P

I tried running my gearing (18t rear freewheel, monty 219 cranks with fixed 24t) it wouldn't fit.

The front chainring was too big, and it rubbed against the cncing on the rear triangle.

Though I might aswell get the rest done...so I put the headset part-thingym on the forks, just wouldn't fit. I was seriosuly smacking it on, and it wouldn't go.

I didn't/don't have a file, and my mum said she'd buy me some new parts for christmas.

Ordered some Echo Easy/Lite forks, Onza 12t fixed cog, and some Echo Forged cranks.

Had a few days to wait, no bike to ride, untill my parts came.

Parts came.

Fitted the forks no problem.

Now I had to remove the freewheel off my hub...

Got the freewheel tool on, clamped it onto the axle using a big washer and the wheel nut (so it wouldn't slip) and got a huuuge spanner on it, and twatted it with a hammer.

After a lot of effort, it came off.

Bringing some thread from the hub with it.

I cleaned it all off, got the fixed cog on the wheel, and freewheel on the cranks.

Went to put the cranks on, did up the crank bolt...BB was too short.

Ordered a new BB from CRC..

Had to wait for that to come..

It came.

Fitted that, all was well.

Was well worth it in the end :)

Parts came.

I HAD BAD LUCK TOO!

got frame (base TA26 black) and got rear wheel (VIZ GREEN 46MM) then got forks, headset, front wheel, tyres and bought a brand new pair of limited edition GREEN hs33s and went to fit them!

PROBLEM!

I had to get the old hs mounts off of a friend because the new mounts didint fit right because the front rim is too wide! (39mm)

then put the rear brake on and ive had to make a CUSTOM booster!! because the frame isnt meant to have a 46mm wide rim and hs33s on it at the same time ive had to chop 2 evo 2 boosters off centre and weld them at the perfect size!

took bloody ages to get perfect!!

ordered rest of parts and bike should be finished by friday next week

YAY!

Broke your crack? Isn't that a metaphor for a girl losing her virginity? :S...I see why Dad was angry...I think he had plans.

Hmmmmm... being unlucky?

i used to be "really unlucky" but then you just kinda realise that you must be doing something to bring it about yourself. if you have a nice clean work area, no time pressure, all the right tools prepared and know what your doing... then your unlikley to have too many problems???

im not unlucky im just clumbsy. Being unlucky is more like puncturing 3 perfect good tube perfectly put in each time.... i mean its not unlucky if your stem didnt fit if you would have ordered the right one it would have fitted.
