Mr-BT
i was wondering is it dodgy to tap a hub to run axle bolts because i cant stand QR
the judge
I wouldn't say it's dodgy, I was gonna give it a go. Give it a try and if it doesn't work you can just stick your qr back in
CurtisRider
its fine, ive done it before if you have a hope hub, they will do it for you but then, its piss easy to do it yourself.....
Mr-BT
Yeah cooli was just wondering if it would cause any loss in strength because of the tapnick
CurtisRider
well theres nothing supporting the hollow section, but ive never had any troubles with my hope xc, dmr revolver or onza mod hubs theres a few people who do it on here, im sure they will let you know of any troubles if they have had any
Mark W
Not at all dodgy I was gonna buy a Hope XC to go up front, and I was going to tap mine too, but then I got a different hub and got a bolt-up skewer (it's just a long bolt, with a nut on the end, basically...) so I can do it up with a 5mm allen key now instead of relying on some piece of turd QR skewer... CurtisRider
maybe ive been unlucky, but i had 2 of those allen key skewer things, and they just snapped maybe i got a little strong
Mark W
Who were they made by?EDIT: Haha, not that it matters 'cos I can't remember who makes mine
Ash-Kennard
I'm using the brand-x 4 bolt allen key skewer on the rear at the moment. it works great, but I will round the bolt soon enough
Mark W
AAAAAAAAAh, I think mine might be Brand X too. Just a thought - did I sell you that skewer? I know I sold one to someone, but can't remember who... I got my front one in a 'bike pack' which had the front, rear and then the seat-clamp one too.
