Danny Kearns
oh my god i hate these topics to be honest all that happens is a big argument brakes loose and someone always end's up disliking somebody else, no point is there really. But anyway back to the topic as for the zona's they are a really nice bike to ride the geometry is perfect if you ask me and looks of it are not exactly the best, the colour is fine but the stickers may be the only downfall, but zoo! stickers are always an option, the only bad point about the zona witch i hate is no snail cam bolts.Thats where the advantage of the zoo! python comes in to play with the snail cams. But personally with the python you are really resticted to a colour where as the zona you have to choices and i know you can spray frames but i mean manufactured standardly and the python is the same wheelbase as the zona but feels way longer and to long for me in fact, so there's my view.Zona Zip all the way son. smelly joe
i own a zona zip and it is a real nice bike to ride, i find that the shorter stays and high bb rise make it a very nice frame to bunnyhop with as onzaboymark said. However the short stays also make the bike real flick on the backend, i personally do not notice this much anymore as i have got used to it but people who have a go on my bike always say that it is flicky.i am not sure why but my zona only measures in at 1020 aswell, although feels a lot longer.i have ridden the 06 cls python and i can say that the python is much harder to bunnyup with however it easily outgaps my python.in my opinion i'd say go for a zona, there all in all a hell of a lot cheaper and to date none have been broke.ohhhh and im with swize on the fact that the geo is different between the 05 and 06 pythons
Mark W
I'm fairly sure that the LONG Python hasn't changed (bearing in mind Swize quoted the Yao Zhi, not CLS Python before...)...If you want to run snail cams, it's easy enough to get handy with a drill, isn't it? Sponge
Hi Onzaallen, I'm about the same height as you like 5 foot 8ish, and I ride the short 05 Python. I've ridden far too many other people's CLS pythons and very few Zona Zips, so I hope I can make a good comparison for you. Basically, the short Python, I feel, has some flickyness, and a bit of leverage at the same time which is all fun fun fun. But it depends what you personally rely on more to get up/get distance on stuff, I personally hate relying on flickyness to get distance on gaps, thats why I *much* prefer Zona Zips and CLS's for gapping. CLS Pythons I rode were all similar, some felt similar to my own bike for some reason . But still, I loved the leverage you could get out of them for gapping and sidehops.Zona Zips felt pretty good, it certainly had the leverage and the flickyness... and it had a bashplate which meant that I could go at things with more confidence without risking denting my BB shell or mullering one end of the downtube near the BB. Zip felt greeeattt for gapping. It's kinda a hard choice, but seeing as the Yao Zhi Python has pretty much the same geometry as the short Echo Team and the Echo Lite, maybe its worth looking into one of those frames if you wanna go short? Because having a bashring when your not incredible is a bit of a nightmare when practising. Bashplates are gonna be a lot more forgiving. The CLS and Zip have both got unique geometry. *Also*, just remembered, Zips are a hell of a lot cheaper and come with a better warranty than the Echo/Zoo warranty. Afterall, there are soo many more options out there nowadays too, so making a final decision could be tough, but if I had the choice out of those 3 originally mentioned: I'd go for the Zip. Although I love riding my YZ bike, I have to say Zoo bikes are waaayyy too overhyped and overrated they have no magical properties whatsoever .sorry for the essay.
