hill_393
I just wanted to test the water to see if I'm the only person suffering from this. My Job takes up a lot of my time, both working and free, and I'm finding it really difficult to find the time to get out and ride. This is having a severe effect on my enthusiasm. Am I the only one to suffer from this?Darren

But sundays are the days i look forward to. The amout of riders round my way has dropped as each year goes by. I think that is the main drain on my enthusiasm. Lee Cable
I did have this dilema, I currently goto school, 6th form. And my studies were taking away all of my time. Kind of sucked. Then i decided that i wouldnt improve unless i rode. So i started going out in a evening. About 8 oclock. This helped me alot. I seem to learn alot easier on my own. I think that when you go out riding with your friends, you go out to have a laugh and to show them what you have learnt. But when you go out alone everything is more focused. Ask pauloliver, this tactic has worked immensly for me, and i am learning so quick. Hope this helps you guysFrom Lee
poopipe
I know exactly what you mean - I work 9 till 6 5 days a week, I live with the missus and I've got my own house so theres feckall time left for riding after all the domestic duties (well, not if I want my share of special hugs anyway) plus I'm usually completely knackered in the evenings. I try to force myself out for an hour or so a couple of times a week on my own if necessary - no matter how knackered I am - and then go for a large one on the weekend with my chums. I tell myself it's to gain more stamina for further special hugs if it's a matter of motivation.

Endohopper
A very familiar problem , one I've been struggling with recently . I work nights ( 23:00 - 07:00 ) so theoretically this leaves my days free , but obviously I sleep from like 8 'till 3 or 4 in the afternoon . Kinda sucks , but with summer on the way , I look forward to more quality time with my precioussss...
Littleharrys
Yeah I have the same, im not really into trials as much at all. I think some of its that my bike is old a not riding as smoothly as it used etc. The other is the winter, being dark cold and the lack of hot ladies in bikinis really doesn't inspire you to ride. But im hoping a new frame and the summer will fix that!!H
Bolty
Well i am getting to the stage now where i have to start working/revising for my exams instead off riding. And its really pi**ing me off Bolty.......

human_furball
Yeah time, what do you call time when you are working three nights a week after school till 9pm when no-one else is out riding. I have to work to get my parts as unlike some people I have never had pocket money as my parents wanted to teach me it's value (although i still buy stuff off my dads credit card). But yes I have this problem. Riding becomes a hard thing to master when you are stuck behind a shop counter. I could try indoor trials but I don't think people will be to impressed.I have a solution to this though. You simple work hours like weekday evenings when no-one can be bothered half the time to go riding and keep your weekends free. Admitedly I also do a paper round but I book it off whenever I plan to go riding or I just meet other riders after I have done it (usually book it off as we take the train to places so we want to leave early). It's all a case of time management.Chris
Trials Punk
You know what it sucks. People probably haven't noticed but I hardly post in the forum. (Just started now and then again) I used to be on here 24/7 but since working weekends on and off I find it hard to find any time between my gf, job and other crap. Recently I lost all enthusiasm. Now though after watching a few old bashguard vids. Some trials kings and various others I'm itching to go and ride, but its raining. All I want to do is play on kerbs. Onzaallen
Yeah i know what you mean its really annoying. I have to study when i get the chance as i have my exams in one month, football practice on tuesdays and thursdays, football matches on saturdays and motor bike trials most sundays. I never seem to be able to get time to ride my motor bike or push bike and i am starting work in two months when i leave school so it will be even worse then.Allen. trials_pimp
As Luke said, this is a club.Riding seems to take a very low Priority now.I remember 7 years ago when I started, I would ride at least 5 days a week, after school and weekends, we used to do all day/night rides, travel everywhere and ride alot.I used to spend all my hard earned on my bike. There used to be about 12 of us in the group. Now I work, go out, Gym, Mates, Drink, Build my car ect. There are only 3 of us that ride now, I havent spent a penny on my bike in almost a year. All my money is going on my car, and going out.And as for riding time, I have only riden twice this year, and 1 of those was a proper ride, 1 was just a 30 hour sesson on the seafront.Priorites change, and riding becomes less important as you grow.only 2 years aog I was riding profesionaly and all the time. Now look.It also doent help that I physicly cant ride as much as I used to due to back problems and not having the stamina for it any more
Tony Harrison
Pretty much the same here. I've ridden probably about 10 times in the last 4 or 5 months. Simply because I've been doing other things and been lacking inspiration and the drive to ride. But yeah, I remember in like 2003 when every Sunday we'd be out all day, riding all the time, evenings as well whenever possible. For me it's just dried up a bit, although I hope to start riding more now the weather's getting better...

People change in life, sometime, not having time to ride really means, having time for other things than trials, its about changing priorities, lifestyles etc... (some now prefer their car, some their other new toys etc...)Trials still works for me, because it is the simplest and most satisfying sport (no complications finding places or time, I only need to leave my home to be ready) and although I have another zillion things I wanna do, well, I still find time to ride ( when it's dry and sunny and warm ).And if I have to quit some day due to grand age then, no regrets, I'll move on to something cosier, like knitting or something... that's life, you decide what to make of it. Andy P
I work 50 hours a week, have a girlfriend, have a "performance" car, and enjoy going out yet I've ridden once every weekend for a day since January - without fail. I usually find time to ride in the evening once a week as well.No matter how busy you are, if you want to ride, you'll find the time.Andy P

psycho
i used to ride 3-5 hours every day. I used to work nights so i had all day to ride when i liked. And my own car to go to organised rides and comps. And i would be on here every other minute i wasnt riding, even at work. this is my first post in nearly two years. A couple of reasons for the demise. I got old. Im 23 now. When your out and about damaging street funiture and you 16-18 people just tell you to move on, but once you get to my age people start saying "you should know beter" or just call the police. And falling off hurts more now, and it takes much longer for injuries to heal - thats age unfortuntly.such is the demise of my trials riding ive even sold out to the whole new world of road racing, well triathlon actually but bit of road in there). And when i think back to when i used to take the pi** out of the roadies on their skinny wheels! Although trials is now a close second behind pubs, clubs, gf, work, football... i still think about it all the time, seeing lines id like to try or seeing people out on their bikes and wanting to join in. Im hoping to come along to some london rides this year, so i may see you around!!
Brian Bleech
23 isn't old .... pah!!
