Tom Booth
Im thinking of changing from 22-18, to 20-16. To improve my chainline, because most road cassettes come with 16tooth as 3/4th gear, and dont have an 18 tooth in there. And I have noticed that 20-16 is a tiny bit harder...22-18=1.222222220-16=1.25Will this difference be noticable?Im running 175mm cranks if it makes any difference?CheersTom
Janson
if you think about it, yeah.I went from 1.2 to 1.14 and I can tell, but didn't affect much.So basically, you'll feel that it's different, but it won't hinder anything.
Tom Booth
I was'nt sure if it was going to be noticable, with it only being a minute difference. But I'll try it, if I dont like it I will source an 18 out and go back to 22-18 CheersTom
Dan-Walker
you wont like it, it is a heavy gearing...for trials anyway....too heavy.
Ash-Kennard
my god, I rode 22:19, then got my bash machined down so then I was on 20:17, but thought that was too harsh so went to 20:18, I found that to be perfect, try it out. 20:16 is just plain stupid, far too harsh
PaRtZ
your top speed will now becom 3.8 mph instead of 3.95mph no i don't know btw loli noticed a .5 of a change in gearing though
Tom Booth
Just ordered a 20t front cog, recon I'll try 20-17, Comes out a little lighter then 22-18, but it should be ok CheersTom
trials_pimp
unless you suffer from retarded legs it will make sod all differenceJust try it and if its not good, use and 18 again. You do realise you can move the cogs around at the back to get a better line
JT!
It's a mere 2.2% change. And it's slightly harder gearing, so it'll match with your might long penis cranks.I'd say go for it, plus you'll have a much lighter setup which is not a bad thing. Brian Bleech
i went from 22-18 to 20-16 and yeah you can feel a tiny difference, but its so small that it won't affect your riding anyway. running 165 cranks too.imo its a great gear for streety trials.Mike
Onza Kieron
I run 18-14 and don't feel it's too hard, different people have different preferences, just try afew and stick with what you like most, other people's preferences won't match yours in most cases. spunkey_monkey_boy
i doubt you'll notice the difference to be fair! i've gone from 18:17 to 18:16 and can notice the difference but not in a big way, am thinking of going down to 18:15 for a bit more power...
