Greetings
Just wondering if it's worth buying an eagle-claw bashguard? I ride urban only, there aren't any natural spots in my area . Is the bashguard itself durable?Cheers
Deonn h
Yeh they are really awsem on natural , offer immence grip. But i wouldn`t bother if you dont ride natural , mine snapped.
Hobnobs
They are pretty damn grippy, and not too bad strength wise. I snapped one attaching bit off, but i really was destroying it.
Euro Braker
Well worth it.Would it fit a Zona as Ive snapped mine and I want something stronger.
Sam Oliver
They have there ups & downs in my opinion,They are amazing for holding you on something, eg, point of a rock but canbe to good when sometimes trying to get off, there are times when i would prefer a smooth bash plate. PaRtZ
Well worth it.Would it fit a Zona as Ive snapped mine and I want something stronger. As I remember saying in a previous thread: A standard monty bash wont fit, so im presuming that the eagle claw wont fit it either
JT!
Never ridden one but they look crap. And and insanely expenive.Besides, when have you even been on your pashplate and wished it had more grip?

For instance a course made out of pallets or logs, you make a jump but slip off the object and land on the bashguard. Probably being in an awkward position you will need very good grip on the bashguard not to slide off. Yet you've made a good point - as long as one doesn't ride natural ( wish i could ) it's not of much use Edited March 25, 2006 by Inur
poopipe
Besides, when have you even been on your pashplate and wished it had more grip? metal benches. an eagle claw wouldnt help in that situation though.
Sam Oliver
metal benches. an eagle claw wouldnt help in that situation though. Not many of those on the Yorkshire moors I think they may be designed for natural

Shez.sheridan
I bought my monty 221 second hand, and it'd seen a fair bit of action...on my old bike I used to snap bashguards (flat type) like they were going out of fashion..I think I snapped 3 new ones in total (one in just under 4 weeks), then had then all of them re-welded, which all snapped again.I've landed a few times really hard on the eagle claw when my backwheel hasn't made it (at the point where my old bash's would of gave up), and it seems, so far at least, to be a lot more robust; due in part (I imagine) to the mechanical properties of it's shape.. p_rew@theciderbar.na
I had one - it lasted a trial and about an hours practice and then it cracked so I wouldnt buy another, although it was very good and grippy, especially on logs. However, many of the top boys at the World rounds when I last went stopped using them after about a week because they were decreasing their side hops (to bash guard) by a couple of centimetres because of how much bigger the eagle claw guards were than the normal ones.If youve got money to burn go for it, but you should probably spend the money on a different upgrade - like the new monty tyres
