PaRtZ
My laptop can find my home wireless connection at full signal (its like 5cm away like but nm) but I can't connect to it. My router is a D-link DSL-G604T and I can access the settings if possible. I tell you what I triedBasically I found the wireless "allow list" and it asks for a mac address (physical address) but i cant find the physical address for my wireless....Any ideas? Im currrently using a cable to the router at the mo btwThanks Edited March 18, 2006 by PaRtZ
nb88
The mac address is just individual numbers for different PCs (i think) so you just need to find out the mac address of your pc...can you not turn off mac filtering for now? PaRtZ
Well I turned the "enable access list" off which had all the mac's on it, but I still can't connect EDIT: Theres a tab which says "associated stations" but I can't alter the two that are on there (my dads computer and presumably my brothers laptop) Edited March 18, 2006 by PaRtZ

tomturd
You can find your mac address by going...start > run > "cmd"type ipconfig /all

I put it in and Im nearly connected, it just takes ages to "acquire network address".....ill edit if it works EDIT 4: OK it did work but now it doesn't I changed the IP address to a manual configuation, added that the to LAN client list and it worked, but then I unplugged the internet to show my parents and it stopped working ! Tomm
No no no You don't need to change the IP address at all. I have never found a use for assigning static IPs, they never change anyway. And you certainly don't want to put that in the allow list. You need to find the mac address (NOT the IP address, that's something totally different), and put that in the allow list. It'll look something like this: 08:00:69:02:01:FC
