My laptop can find my home wireless connection at full signal (its like 5cm away like but nm) but I can't connect to it. My router is a D-link DSL-G604T and I can access the settings if possible. I tell you what I tried

Basically I found the wireless "allow list" and it asks for a mac address (physical address) but i cant find the physical address for my wireless....

Any ideas?

Im currrently using a cable to the router at the mo btw

Thanks

Well I turned the "enable access list" off which had all the mac's on it, but I still can't connect :S

EDIT: Theres a tab which says "associated stations" but I can't alter the two that are on there (my dads computer and presumably my brothers laptop)

You either need to just add your mac address (it should be printed on the wireless card somewhere, or in device manager, I'm not sure), or turn off enable access list.

You can find your mac address by going...

start > run > "cmd"

type ipconfig /all

aha i Think you need some sex mr Tom... I put it in and Im nearly connected, it just takes ages to "acquire network address".....

ill edit if it works ;)

EDIT 4: OK it did work but now it doesn't :S I changed the IP address to a manual configuation, added that the to LAN client list and it worked, but then I unplugged the internet to show my parents and it stopped working :S !

No no no :P You don't need to change the IP address at all. I have never found a use for assigning static IPs, they never change anyway. And you certainly don't want to put that in the allow list. You need to find the mac address (NOT the IP address, that's something totally different), and put that in the allow list. It'll look something like this: 08:00:69:02:01:FC (Y)
