on that? u must be joking
On my laptop which runs windows 2000 I have installed bit torrent and use zone alarm free firewall. There doesn't seem to be anywhere in the free version to set up ports for bittorrent to use and so i am unable to download using bittorrent on it. Can anyone suggest another free firewall which will allow me to do this, or a work around for zone alarm?Cheers,Andy
Tomm
The last time I used Zonealarm (age ago) there were loads of options for exceptions etc. I can't believe that they have made it worse since then. Are you sure it's Zonealarm that is causing the problems?
Greetings
I used Zone Alarm with BitTorrent and there were no problems whatsoever. Go through the 'programs' menu and make sure that it isn't blocked as a client nor server. Don't think that you need to mess arround with the ports, this shouldn't happen. UrbanPoet
I could never configure ports with Zone Alarm; there just doesn't seem to be an option! Eventually I just set up a hardware firewall so I could configure it fully.Bittorrent, at least when using BitComet, you also need to make sure that a listening port is set up (6881) for incoming connections and shizzle. I don't know of any good software firewalls (are there any?), XP Firewall is adequate, but not an option for you unless you want to upgrade to XP.
