Bonney@X-Street
let me set the scene. i bought a playstation 2 off ebay about a month ago and it arrived broken. i complained to paypal and they said go to a company and get a quote to get it repaired. so i took it to a friend who works for an electronics company, he looked at it and said the dvd tray had been broken glued back together and would cost £50+ so got him to type it on headed paper and i was asked by paypal to fax to them, to which i did. they then turned around and said you can have a refund send it back recorded delivery which i did. provided them with the tracking number and was asked to fax the recipts over...which i did. (i have fax sheet to prove it) i get an email saying that the information i provided was invaild and closed the case. basicly they said i was trying to be fraudulant! TO WHICH I WENT MENTAL! rang them up and said "whats the problem, did everything you asked to the dot" they said they didn't recieve the fax of the recipts?!?!?! i said thats not my problem i sent it. she then checked the tracking number and suprize suprize it was delievered!!!! so she said she would ask the team to relook at it, a week later and i have heard nothin! im now £78 out of pocket because of paypal. what can i do?VERY angry Bon

Alexx
Palpay are great, unless you get a problem. Then you may as well just give up before you start, because their customer support doesn't exist.
JT!
let me set the scene. i bought a playstation 2 off ebay about a month ago and it arrived broken. i complained to paypal.....Why didn't you get a re-fund from the guy your bought it off.Why did you 'complain' to paypal. It's got nothing to do with them. They transfer the money, and do that well....or have i missed the point completely?
RicH_87
Hmm paypal as always been good with me, even too good believe it or not, heres two of my situations for your reading pleasure.First off, i sold a 3g phone on ebay to someone living in london. They paid via paypal, i sent it the next day and as far as i know it arrived safe and sound although i heard nothing. Almost exactly 1 month later we recieve an e-mail from paypal stating the buyer had filed a claim against us. They said they couldn't tell us why or what for, but we had 1 week to dispute it and prove we hadn't done anything wrong. We dug out the postage reciepts , a link to the auction and all the e-mails i had sent to the person. We had only recieved one e-mail rom them, written in very poor english telling us they had paid and when would they recieve the phone.Anyway, we sent it all to paypal, and they seemingly ignored the lot, took the money out of my paypal account leaving me with a negative balance and sent the money back to whoever it was that had completely robbed me.I guess they made someone a very happy customer. The other story was to my benefit. It was novermber 2004 and psp had just been released in JAP. I decided to buy an import of ebay as you do, and chose to spend that little extra to get it from a powerseller. Anyway, he ran an auction selling 10 and they were all gone in a matter of hours. However, it turned out he didn't ACTUALLY have any PSP's at all, and he fobbed me and everyone else off for around 3 weeks (i managed to get in contact with a few of the other buyers to see what was going on).Anyway long boring story short, i contatcted him many many times asking fro a refund, which he failed to give, so i filed a complaint via paypal which forced him into the same situation i was in with the phone. My money was eventually returned to my paypal account in two installments. Although i'd wasted a lot of time i was still fairly satisfied to have gotten a full refund.I don't really know why i told you all this but hey, it might help in some way. In my experience paypal is the safest and the best way to send money over the internet. Load of buisnesses wouldn't choose to use it if it 'sucked'.Just stick with it and i'm sure they'll sort it out eventually. You are lucky in some ways that they actually have any customer support for you at all. They are only there to transfer the money, and are totally independant of ebay. Its hardly their fault that the ps2 was broken. You should get onto the sellers ass about it. JT!
reason i complained to paypal, chap refused to give me a refund Oh I see, fair doo's. Can't you fax the recipts again, but do it 10 times so they can't miss them. Edited March 17, 2006 by JT!

Andy P
Paypal has been very good for me. I had my paypal account "hacked" and someone spent about £300 over several credit cards / bank cards on virtual items such as money on warcraft etc. so the items didn't actually need a delivery address (only an online alias). I emailed paypal telling them that my account had been used fraudulently and they contacted all the relevent companies and stopped them from 'dispatching' the items and recieved a full refund from all of them. Infact, as most of the stuff was purchased from abroad, when i was redunded the conversion rates worked in my favour and i gained a whole £4. As for catching the b*****d, they traced the IP to europe....fantastic....But yeah, keep at it and you'll probably get a result.Andy P
Alexx
Load of buisnesses wouldn't choose to use it if it 'sucked'.As a payment system they are good. Easy to use, and have a huge user base. Thats why so many companies use it.That says nothing for their customer support.
Krisboats
Both of you are completely within your rights to get trading standards/office of fair trading on there ass. As far as trading standrards are concerned they have stolen money from you, which is against the consumer rights act (or something like that). Was it recorded delivery so that you can tell the item was received? If so send all the information to the T.S. people and they will let you know where to go from there. As for you bon keep harassing paypal till you get a result, keep ringing them up and don't talk to anybody apart from a manager or supervisor... those call people will just put you through to so many different people that you forget who you're talking to. If they don't seem to be doing anything at all get trading standards on them. For more information on either have a look on here www.direct.gov.uk
Bonney@X-Street
ok now im really angry. can someone tell me how long tracking information stays on the royal mail website because i sent it back nearly 3 weeks ago and i checked the tracking number today on the off chance it its saying come back later as it might of not been updated yet?! so does this mean it hasn't been delievery or lost or summin. this is why paypal wont issue a refund because it says it hasn't been delievered! STRESSSSSFULL!!!!
Bonney@X-Street
hahaha o my god this keeps getting better and better. i rang royal mail to see where my parcel was and he said that it had been lost and i could claim £30!!! so a bit annoyed at only going to get £30 i rang back the next day and i spoke to someone else who said it had been delivered but hadn't had the tracking number entered to say it had been delivered but he was viewing the card it had been signed on. so i rang paypal and explain and they were having none of it. so in summary Royal mail are w**kers and paypal is s**t. lost £75 through the negligence of someone at royal mail!
