poopipe
Decent V's are more expensive than maggies and like others have said, you have to lube and tension cables and bugger about with springs etc every so often in order to get them to work as well as a maggie. So yeah Vs are great more money + more work = same performance as a maggie

basher
i prefer cable disk brakes to be precise avid bb7 and when it comes to rims brakes i prefer hydraulic, but i wouldn't say i trust them more though. i just like the feel better of hydraulic. Clawz114
Just wondered what everone else profered out of cable or hydrolic brake, like which would you trust more and which work better.hmm let me see, would i prefer a brake that can stop me when i use my little finger...or a brake which gets frayed cables...pads which have more bolts and washers than my local bike shop...maguras are the way forward, with braided hosing
KeNi
depends what cable brakes some of them suck but some rock!! lol but deffo hydros
geraldo453
If you go to any descent biike shop, they will tell you that hydrualic is the best, V- brakes are braking brake (for slowing down) and a hydraulic is a locking brake, i would go for the hydraulic, with a descent brake pad, plzmatic crm's are very good, but i quite like the spanish flys, when i say hydrualic brake, i meen madura by the way
king_kennythe1st
its down to choice really, but hydraulic is the better method i think.motorcycle trials bikes used to have cable brakes but they got rid of them for a stronger brake, introduced hydraulic disks which are the standard now. cables are okay but they stretch, i know you can take up the slack etc as with the tpa on mag's but eventually the cables get frayed etc etc.both brakes require maintaining but hydros are more powerfull and i think less messy when setup. from a trials perspective, when braking with one single finger u can get more force to the rim through a hyrdo. Lee Cable
i dont get it...we havent ridden any rocks? argh!oh my god paul, sometimes you are sooooo dense(sp?) My last name is cable! oh my god!!But yea, cable brakes bestest! From Lee
derenkirby
why use cables when hydrolics do exactly the same job except the fact that you dont have to keep adjusting because that stupid cable dont keep stretching. also hydrolics are just the best because all the power that u push into that lever gets pushed onto those rims instantly.
