SAMWELL
HiI have a problem. I got a 2nd hand frame off someone recently. It wasnt too old. The 4 bolt mounts on one side had been stripped so either himself, or someone else, had attempted to helicoil the mounts. They had done a shoddy job and when I went to put a bolt in, they went in at a nasty angle and one came out it was so loose. I decided to redo the helicoils but obviously, there wasnt enough thread for the coils to lock on to.I tried filling the hole with metal putty (JB Weld) and drilling again, but it didnt work at all. Im kind of lost for ideas now, I could weld the hole up with metal but thats a lot of hassle. I dont like the feeling im stuck here with a useless frame any ideas? Bionic Balls
use a helicoil one size bigger...and a bigger bolt...obviously...or if you are soo bothered about having the same size bolt, you'd need to drill it out to ~8mm and then make an insert with the required m5 thread inside (like a really fat helicoil..)adam

SAMWELL
If you can't do the m4 size you could always go one size bigger and just drill your 4 bolt mounts and booster to fitIm at size M6 atm - i think. m5 was originally drilled for the correct helicoils but now its m6, if anything. Also, the booster i will be using has spacers, like others. They cant be replaced so easily, it would be just more of a hassle. That link was useful thank you tom, although ive already tried the metal paste mix and it doesnt hold anything. I drilled it when i tried, then when tapping, it turned into chalk. And ive been told i was using the best stuff!!! (someone apparently glued their brake LEVER with it)
