Lee Cable
Hello im considering buying a DK General Lee 24" bmx. One of my mates said that i should run suspension forks on the front! what do you think? Thanks! From Lee. P.s The only reason im buying this is so that i can do dirt jumping. the judge
24" BMX samSam ward: YesRadical rider: In a free mbuk video from a while back Steve Geall was using a mongoose 24" BMX with front suspension (psylos I think) so it should work well. It'd be just like putting it on a 24" mtb like the dmr rhythm really. Although there could be geometry issues as I think he had his modified. The new marzocchi 24" sus' forks might be ok if there are issues with geometry. Sorry if this random ramble was no help at all edit: they were what I was talking about: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=5793 - no idea if they'd be ok though. DAB
The general lee 24" is a nice bike and if you want to jump it, use the forks that come with it, if you don't like it then change....As i ride bmx as well (20"), i don't like sus forks on 24" as it takes all the felling out of the jumps!!!!!! mat hudson
i wouldnt put sus forks on because the frame is designed for ridgidforks. having sus forks will rase the bb slacken the headangle and make it ride like poop.

Anyways, I'd leave it rigid. If BMXers can do the mad shit they do with smaller wheels and rigid forks, I'm pretty sure you can get some balls, get some stronger wrists and just ride it out It'll feel a load better if you leave it rigid anyway. the judge
Just tell your mate he's a girl, no need for front sus if your just dirt jumping really, 20" bmxs manage fine without it.

nmt_oli
My mate has a 24" general Lee and ran 80mm old school marzocchi's on it, and it felt lush, as they were really stiff so just there to take the sting out of things really. As they were short it didnt muck stuff up really either.
CurtisRider
When steve ran suspension on the front MBUK said he had to cut down the suspenison legs giving alot less travel because it mucked up the geo so leave it with rigids as that is what it was made for no he didnt he either ran them at 80mm(theres a u turn knob that allows you to run between 80 and 125mm of sus) or he had the internals fiddled to bring the sus down a little moreas for running sus on the 24, as ive already said to lee, hes used to riding 26 mtb with sus, so just maybe the 24 with sus would suit him better as it'll feel like a more normal setup to him, certainly with the kinda places we ride, front suspension would be no hinderance although whenever we find something we could just steal my old stinky off nath couldn't we lee? anywho chap, great idea from me if you do decide to buy a 24, run it with the rigids, see how it goes, borrow some of my spare bombers, see how they feel and then you can see what suits you best poifect

That wasn't a nice bike, sorry m8 that's disco!what you talking about you idiot!!?? those bikes are f**king lush to ride, i've ridden a 24" mongoose brawler and done sum sick things on it too (people that have seen clockwork will know) i'd say stick with rigid, thats what the frames been desinged for anyway.
