SuperDeathMonkey
26" would be easier, greater surface area to land on
Al_Fel
26" its bigger.
Josh Greenan!!!!!!!!!!
Thats what i thought but he said the contact patch is exactly the same.
Al_Fel
yeah but there's more room for error on a 26" wheel.
Davetrials
Either, its ability, not the bike. a good rider could easily land on a rail on either sized wheel.
Hobnobs
Theres more room for error on 26", but apart from that theres no difference. Mods have bigger tyres though.
Ben Geary
Same i would say
PaRtZ
26" The circuference on a 26" isn't as "sharp" as a 20". Take it to the extreme, it would be a pieces of piece to rail gap with 100" wheels But as someone else said it mostly depends on the rider
steve sturt
If you think what it would be like to land on a rail with skateboard wheel sized wheels, then with wheels as big as huge, massive round.....tractor wheels, forget things like tyre depth/ pressure, purely talking radius here, should help to clarify things in your mind. Then with this analogy in hand you can then explain to your father that he is right or wrong dependent on whether he said 20 or 26 would be easier. Dads are usually quite dumb in my experience. Ive only ever had one, but hes a bit dim at times, but if your dad is Stephen Hawkings or perhaps Phil Collins, then your dad might be clever. PaRtZ
or perhaps Phil CollinsPhil Collins isn't clever He just sings
Deonn h
26.You don`t have to get as much on to it on a 26.And you have less chance of going over it obviosly cause the wheel is bigger.
steve sturt
Phil Collins isn't clever He just sings Damnit. It said Genesis on the CD

JT!
i vbeen thining about this for a while...Its really hard to explain, so i will try to explain with a MS paint drawing Back soon...I'v never looked forward to something this much in my life. 26 is better for two reasons, bigger wheels, if you land an inch out, you could recover it easier with 26" wheels then 20" wheels. And mod tyres are uber fat, and wrap around the rail, where was 26" tyres sort of sit ontop of them. "nd reason is debateable though. downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
So yes, 26" would be easier But everyone knows 20" is better
yoyoyo
I'd say 26" for the extra you have to put on the rail. Better margin of error, or worse
Dan6061
I'd say 20". Because the tyres are super fat, so they wrap around the rail. Saying that, it could depend on the pressure, if you have say.. 60psi, you'd just bouce off the rail. If you ran like 15psi, the tyre would wrap around it.
