Dr Greenthumb
I don't have a TA26 but from your spec i can suggest a couple of things?I'd personally get some middleburns, replace the truvativ.Front Avid, want to get one myself, get one on an xc hub. What tyres are you running currently?Dan
TomN
Get some Middleburns or Tensiles easily able to pick some up 2nd hand for about £50. Get a SD7 V brake if you like V brake on the front as when I had a SD7 it was powerful enough for me to use or get a disc. What forks you have at the moment aswell? psychologist
As said above upgrade the cranks, but wait til the old ones are useless first. Edited March 14, 2006 by psychologist

JoNnY__Mc
to be honest mate your spec sounds absolutely mint, no need to go spending money when you dont need to.firstly i would try to make ur back brake as sound and as good as you can, so make sure your rims are ground and you have a water bleed and maybe some plaz/heatsink blue/coust pads. so thats the most important thing atm, also the front v brake is pimped so dont diss keep it but just set it up so its as sharp as you want it? youl want some modulation if you want to be able to front gap etc.the truvative cranks are mint absolutely solid cranks so i wouldnt really change them? but if you do i would go for some sort of front freewheel cranks or even middleburns, something with a round bash as they suit bases nicest dont just go searching for the most expensive parts because sometimes cheaper parts can feel just as good on the bike, take it from me, i went from an echo stem to a mad stem and it made my bike feel mint, depending on how ur base feels with your stem, i would change it to something fairly short with little rise because my mates base has a fairly short viz stem and it makes it handle so nice and it gives the bike such a mean look...well i have mumbled on for long enough so im gonna leave the final decision to you because its your bike and your moneycheers Jonnyedit: didnt realise i had written so much... and theres so much more i could have said... eg tyres etc... il leave it to these guys to help you now, any pics dude? Endohopper
As suggested above , your Base seems to have a fine spec as is . However , I am here to issue a warning on the one thing that was overlooked : The TA 26 MUST be run with a conventional saddle / seatpost . I've heard of several which were run with "push in " minisaddles , and almost all fractured where the seat tube meets the stays . The same happened to mine , and I learned my lesson . Other than that , seems you have a fine bike , have you removed / discarded the supplied bashplate yet ? Pictures of your fine steed ? TomN
To be fair I heard others cracked while running a seatpost as well.... Mine crack but I kept riding as I had 2 hair line cracks.
