The Butterfly Effect....

It's about a guy that had black outs throughout his childhood. When he grows up he discovers that he can travel back in time using journals that he wrote around the same time that he was having said blackouts. When he travels back through time he tries to make changes to his life thus making some interesting changes to his present life.

Very good film. Seen it in the cinema when it was first released and then again on DVD which both had completely different endings.

Yes its a good film alright and in my DVD collection already. Its pretty damn gripping with a brutal ending that really makes you sad/ think. I saw the directors cut i think, and i heard the cinema release had a cheesy hollywood ending on the end (N) Having seen it a couple of times you do notice that its actually quite cheesy in parts but its still good. Also cant help comparing it to Donnie Darko and seeing it as a poormans version.

Definitly worth a watch though!

A good movie methinks. The main actor blokey initially put me off wanting to watch but I really enjoyed it. It has that standard time travel flaw though. Or at least something which I perceive as a flaw but I won't say as not to spoil it.

The butterfly effect comes from chaos theory. It's the idea the smallest change to a system can cause a large effect or alteration to that system. Thus the (inaccurate on my part) expression, "A butterfly flaps it's wings in California and causes a tornado in New Orleans". Interesting science stuff.

Good film but what i didn't like about it was that the 'alernate realitys' were far too similar. I think that they should have been waaaay different from each other.

The directors cut edition is useless... The Tv version is 10000x better.

Got to agree 100% - Theres pretty much no closure on any of the other themes in the story on the directors but whereas the tv version wraps evertything up really nicely and doesnt leave you with a lingering feeling of incompletion after wasting 2 hours of your life.
