Ramraider
Hey guys, Just finished putting a shimano hub onto a mavic EX721 rim. I have managed to get all of the lacing correct with only one little mishap (put the key spoke in the wrong place to start which didnt help )I trued the wheel and go it so it doesnt wobble vertically (side-to-side) but there are a couple of spots where it rises horiontally and I cant get rid of them! They are only tiny I would say 0.5 - 0.75 mm, does this much 'untrueness' effect the way the wheel will operate or would it be ok to ride?I feel pretty chuffed for a first attempt Cheers,Mike. Simpson
it means youve egged it and i think you can pull it out but it involve a complete re re-build and some one good to do it i belive if im on the right line
mini
Well done mate! I don't think it would matter if it's only 0.5 to 0.75 mm out. Thats a tiny amount. Hope you make a wheel-building business or something along that lines. From Stuart
Jaffacakes
Well done mate .Half a MM? that's basically nothing .
N.Wood
Thats good, don't worry about it.And if you had a more violently out-of-shape wheel, it wouldn't involve a complete re-built, just some tweaking of different spokes to pull it back to a circle. But if you have to use that particular one, you could try tightening up a few of the spokes around the hole you're trying to get it in and loosen a few on the opposite side. That should move the wheel over enough so you may be able to start the nipple on the spoke's thread. Just remember it could be hard to correct the mishapenness you'll get from having tightened and loosened those spokes...
Ramraider
Yea it is a brand new rim mate.If your spokes won't reach there holes are you sure that you have the correct length spokes? There is a good tutorial on how to take all the measurements you need to order the correct length spokes somewhere on here, I will link to it when I find it again,Cheers,Mike. Here is the link to the spoke measuring thingy Spoke MeasurementMike
