nb88
I got some plazzy CRM pads from prawny and my brake is pretty good, makes a good old honking noise anyway .I rode it for a little while on my drive though, and the pads seem to be wearing very fast theres bits of pad coming off and its all over my rim - a yellow dust . I've not had plazmatic pads in ages but i cant remember this ever happening before... I did a medium grind on my ALEX DM24 rim, ill take some sandpaper out when i next ride to lighten it up a bit incase it keeps wearing quick.Anyway...is this normal? Maybe its just a bedding in period? They also feel very soft to touch with your finger nail...Cheers.
Tom Booth
Mine are the exact same, They havent worn fast at all, but theres yellow dust comming off. Janson
CRM are soft. They should stop wearing quickly pretty soon, they seem to wear lots at first, but then kind of settle down.

nb88
How long do CRMs generally last with grinds then? Might try coust pads next, i have plenty pad backings.

Cheers, NickTry taking the crank arms off and sliding a spacer onto each axle, then whack your crank arms back on and they're further out. It might help .My plazmatics lasted since last years bike show till about 3-4 weeks ago when i got some of the coust pads (which are loads better by the way) on a medium grind. My plazzies still had some pad left so i popped them out the backings for when my cousts run out.

nb88
Well they seem to have worn quite a lot today i have been riding for about 6 hours straight and id say theyve almost worn half way. After these die i'll probably get some coust material, ive heard theyre really good.I'm hoping theyll last a good few months of harsh riding yet though... poopipe
just whilst we are on the topic of plaz pads...are they any good on smooth rim with tar? steve.er. yes - as long as it isn't wet.they're also good on a smooth rim without tar - as long as it isn't wet or really cold and you haven't got them mucky by using tar. Mark W
Fear ye not Noz, they stop wearing and get their shit together. I had a pair on the front that didn't appear to wear for about a year, on a ground DM24 then Try-All. Can't say fairer than that. That was my "slowing me down" brake too, so it got scrubbed like a scrubba. But yeah, they settle down and rule after the initial wear. Didn't like my Cousts at all, and some people on here and OTN have been complaining at faster wear rates than anticipated. Ah well, I'll just stick to the always awesome Koxx greens

Mark W
Mat, I can backwheel 50" and gap over 8 1/2ft with that brake and it holds, but you can't hop onto curbs with it and lock the back brake up. That suggests to me that you're the spastic, not me

Mark W
The only time it hasn't worked in recent times was when I had ice all over my rim, which is fair enough, really. So out of curiosity Mat, how much more money are you gonig to throw at your V-brake to try and drag it level with the performance of a Magura?
