Trials Boy Posted March 4, 2006 Report Share Posted March 4, 2006 Hi All,My pads seem to be lacking power and seem to be wearing down very fast. I took my wheel out and took the pads off and this is them: There about a week old and does anyone know what all the black stuff is on the pads? I did use tar today as they were sh*t I've put the pads in boiling water and put soup on them and thats as good as they're get.Does anybody know whats wrong?Thanks in advance. Ben Geary Posted March 4, 2006 Report Share Posted March 4, 2006 By the looks of them no wonder there not working, just sand the top layer of the pad of, fresh grind, fresh bleed, your brake should be beasty then.There good pads so i don't see why there should be shit on you, or maybe you are just setting up the brake at a mega angle or something.Or it's proberly contamanated with some greesey shit. You put soap on ur pads surley thats a bad thing ? + Does not boiling them loosen the gule and let the rubber pull out easyer ? Yes, it does loosen the glue, but to get the material out you need pliers so it should not be a problem, altho boling would do nothing if you are going to sand the surface off. Performance was ok for half an hour, then got steadily worse, until I didn't have enough material left on the pad to use the brake, 3 hours through the ride later...
