Big_Al
hey guys, im new to the forum, ive been browsing it for a few weeks now, and thought id sign up today random topic of discussion:when is a rear magura no longer a magura? and just a random hydraulic rear rim brake?i was thinking this looking at my brake last night, ive got a rear magura HS33, but its got an RB designs lever, a hope braided hose, koxx pads (in powerpad backings), echo CNC brake clamps, random stainless bolts, and an RB booster.so the only part of my brake actually made by magura is the slave cylinders!can it still really be called a magura brake? surely its an RB brake seeing as its got more RB components than anything else?what do you guys think?Al
Mark W
All the parts you've listed are after-market replacement parts for what Magura originally made, so it's just their way of fulfilling the need, if you get me? So it's still a Magura, just that you've got Magura specific RB replacement parts on it?Oh - and welcome to the forum
smurftrial
Its a bit of a frankenstein!
Walleee
Yeh, it can't be an RB hydraulic brake because they don't make them. You have a magura with aftermarket parts, at least that's how i'd describe it.
Big_Al
I thought the answers would be along those lines. I just thought it made an interesting discussion. As its still clearly a magura, you would never call it an RB brake, even though the majority of its components are not made by magura at all!Smurftrial-frankenstein-Couldnt you call it a frankenmag! Big_Al
yeah magura have pantented the hydraulic rim brake so all parts i would go fru them i would of fort ?I'm not so sure about that Padarik, i dont believe the RB lever has had anything to do with Magura at all. It's not ACTUALLY a Magura lever, it's simply a hydraulic brake lever, that happens to have a master cylinder capable of working well with the piston sizes of an hs33 slave cylinder, and happens to have the same thread size as a Magura hose!I dont think Magura have had anything to do with it! mini
I think that my magura stopped being a magura when i snapped it. I was not impressed with the out come of the bail.. a hefty fine (price of magura lever) lolfrom stuart

I was not impressed with the out come of the bail.. a hefty fine (price of magura lever) lolfrom stuartThat's why you run your levers a little bit loose, so when you smash them on the ground they just swivel around on the bars and don't break .
