Krisboats
wayne your like the major person in this thread for "only seeing it one way", it's coming across that you're trying to promote hope's products and service more than listening to what anybody else is having to say. Before you say i'm big headed or anything like that i can completely see where hope are coming from with the charges and i agree that if someone's hub is truly a warranty claim case (i.e. axle snapped in a week of buying a new hub for cross country riding in the lake district) then they can ring hope and talk to them personally about it.As with all things on my bike i take care of my hub and service it periodically to keep it running and i havn't had any problems with it at all so far, most other people do the same and for those who don't more fool them.I think the general thing that people are saying though is that this billing shouldn't be charged for the pro II t hub, because it is designed for trials. If it does break during trials use within 12 months i don't think they can charge for it to be repaired anyway because its against the consumer rights policy or something like that.... andy said it further up the thread somewhere. And there is another thing your forgetting wayne... despite you meaning well, this is an internet forum, there will always be people who come one here for a whinge or to cause an argument because a lot of people on here are under 16... thats what kids do.i think i'm going to be the first person on here to say cheers for the information wayne and taking the time to try your hardest to answer questions on the matter. Waynio
i totally agree Kris, but the "warranty" claims will still be warranty claims im not taking that away from it. im just saying a hub over 12month old will be charged for on service, etc etc. instead of 12-24-36months down the line, people wanting this service for free.12months guarantee is to manufacturing defects. i think the new hubs wont have the axle snapping problem and such forth, ratchet rings and stuff wont be damaged as easy or become nakerd, purely through what they have done to the "trials" hubs, they have also done this to XC hubs too but used Q/R ends instead of a thicker axle with bolts in, but i was trying to give the idea of 12months warranty, AFTER that the service charges are implied BUT within that 12months things will need servicing OR cleaning out. not saying a new ratchet every say 5/6 months will do it. im saying for hope OR as i said before your LBS they can check the hub and make sure its ok, booking something in for a service doesnt take long and can be easy enough to do if you dont have the knowledge or time to do it yourself.most of the charges on that page will be "adequate" after the 12month period has run out. so in theory for hubs purchased this time last year if the warranty expires hope can tell from the "date" system and will charge. obviosly if hope deem it "in" or "under" warranty they will do it what people wont see is that hope is full of experts and bike people who have done it for way over 12+ years. most people on here have probably only had a bike for that long "unless" your obviosly over the age of 14+ and you may have had bikes for that long, but probably not hope hubs Waynio....................................... Brisa
Point I really want to say is the only good thing was the warranty. I mean, shimano's last as long, engage nearly as quick and are cheaper. Just the fact that hope fixed thier free rather than buying a £25 shimano freehub. Er, no. Hopes last so much longer.
Brisa
Err, not in my experiance of them. Have a few dead ones here that suggest otherwise. Yet my shimano actually lived... and still lives on in another wheel on the origional freehub.Different people put different stresses I suppose. Its just funny that it took more of a beating. Any my king hasn't skipped a beat either. All im trying to say is that the floppy alxe just lets the ratchet get eaten in trials especially for a heavier person like myself. Therefore don't think the servicing costs are appropiately set for the xc/mono/bulb Edited March 6, 2006 by Brisa

Waynio
All im trying to say is that the floppy alxe just lets the ratchet get eaten in trials especially for a heavier person like myself. Therefore don't think the servicing costs are appropiately set for the xc/mono/bulbdude thats why the Pro2 T has a new and better axle, to stop the axle digging into the ratchet thats why its way kooler than other hubs.Nick. iv got two words for you. one starts with "F" and ends in "K" and the 2nd word starts in "O" and ends in "F" work the rest out and do it! this topic has no relevance to you!for people who want info about HOPE products they can read this.the warranty is 12months, the service work AFTER that is paid for, before the 12months though like anything hubs etc etc will need servicing, (this is the par that will need paying for) your LBS will be able to do it and save you having to send it off to hope all the time, and will probably be cheaper as its more of a check than a full service.
