Tom_
I'm tempted to convert to carb's for this new engine build. Though I think I'd go down the twin weber route. Is there any major difference between bike carb's and the webers?Seriously. What is this new engine out of?!
Tom_
Not telling just yet, though it should be pretty tasty, at least I hope it will be...This list of mod's is getting longer and longer and more expensive by the hour Seriously, on a scale of 1 to TGS, do you know how gay you are?Thats right, TGS. In other words, VERY, VERY gay.Edit: Edited December 4, 2008 by Tom_
Jolfa
Is there any major difference between bike carb's and the webers?Yeah, Webers will cost you 10x as much, and they're 100x more of a ballache
Danny
That can't be good for flow. Those intakes could be almost straight. Instead they have a right snake going on.
Jolfa
What about performace wise though? There's nothing in it, my mate has gone to bike carbs, and has nothing good to say about the Webers he had before them... As for jet sizes, I'm sure Weber jets fit in R1 carbs anyway, otherwise you can just drill out whatever comes in the carbs (as I'll be doing) That can't be good for flow. Those intakes could be almost straight. Instead they have a right snake going on.How could they be straight? They have to match up to the bike carb spacing... It's not ideal, but it's not the worst solution in the world for the difference in price to getting a full custom manifold made!
Jolfa
Has anyone in here ran German plates on the car before? Any unwanted attention come with it?Yes! About 6 £30 fines later I decided it wasn't really worth it

Jolfa
Up to you! There was a massive clamp down on them in recent times though, even carrying your standard ones in the car to swap over on the spot isn't enough to get off with it You can get pressed plates without the D band and UK legal font that look alright though, have a look for 'The Plate Man' (might all be one word) or on Dubmeister (where I got mine from) I've just given up and gone for the plainest stadard plates I could get
haydon_peter
I'm tempted to run the risk..They look awesome dude!Just the other day you were saying that you were struggling to afford the running costs of your car so what's the point wasting money on new plates that are probably going to cause you lots of hassle and fines? Pashley26
They did look good though..I keep thinking...Hmmmmm, golf look boring now. I'll stick to my Saab. But as much of a slut as yours is I it !
Si-man
Has anyone in here ran German plates on the car before? Any unwanted attention come with it?Mate had German plates with a German plate holder on his Seat Leon Cupra R. He got shafted for having them on. Got his own plate on now with the German plate holder, he got shafted because thats german!!Does it not work the same way as bikes, where after 30 days of being warned for having small plates etc you can put them back on and they can only warn you again? Jolfa
It will not stay straight, I've corrected it a million times, and I've just given up now, I'm past caring. Infact I'm resisting the urge right now to go and set fire to the heap of shit, I'm f*cking sick of it not starting, I can't even force it to anymore. Pisses me off. Jolfa
Fix it with 8 valves 8 more? That'd be nice ..Bit above me though, it involves wires!

Jolfa
V6 + carbs = ballacheYou aint wrong! Bad enough on an engine I know inside out and back to front!!!
RobinJI
Haha, fair enough. Out of interest, what stopped you leaving the injection on the valver? Could you not have left it on and used the carbs as ITB's?(Before you point out how stupid that suggestion is, I know nothing of injection engines. haha, although my first guess at why it wouldn't work would be a lack of mass air flow meter.) Jolfa
To be honest, I never even thought of that...I'm sure there's a good reason nobody has done it though! If not It's such a b*****d! When it goes, it goes well, but getting it going in the first place is the biggest f*ck around ever! And the hoses keep sucking themselves off the carbs, hopefully the new hoses I've ordered will sort it, and I'm getting a new manifold too so I can actually have a servo I did a quality bodge earlier to operate the choke though - its 2m of bike brake cable, with half an old canti brake on the end that comes out of the bonnet and hangs in the door I'm hoping it'll make it a fraction easier to start it Edited December 8, 2008 by Jolfa
RobinJI
What electronics are there in the inlet with the standard system? Is yours digifant or k-jet?Haha, was wondering a second ago if you had a vacume take off for the servo anywhere. What manifold are you getting? I'm on the look out for somewhere local that can make me up one.Brake cable bodge sounds awesome! Should get your hands on a proper choke cable some time, would neaten things up a little.
