Has anyone had much experince with TSR? I've read on other forums they're pretty sound. You can never have to many good references though :P

I've got another engine on the way, TSR being VAG specific sem like a good place to start with internal mods..

They're pretty local to me, and while they're a sound bunch of guys, from what I've seen and heard their works average, and their prices are laughable. There's a place 200 yards from my house who are seriously good and reasonably priced if you need anything doing. I know a guy who gets all his autograss mini stuff done buy them and the people who inspect the engines to make sure there's no cheating going on (cant remember there proper title right now) have commented on how the work was amazing and some of the best they've seen. Also the local VAG nutter brothers both swear by them having had engines built by both them and TSR (Their driveway currently contains a 1.3l mk1 run-around, a G60 turbo mk1 project car, a 2.1l 170bhp 8v mk1 GTI, a mint G60 corrado, a 3.2l B5 quattro A4, and a soon to be turbo VR6 mk3, between the 2 of them. haha, oh there's a series 2 landy project in there somewhere too.)

Halfords or GSF? Failing that I've got one in my sciroccos boot I think, Whats up with it anyway?

Can't believe i forgot about GSF, fool. Cheers.

If its from a scirocco, it won't work. bosch no is 0237 021 041, so it's gotta match that.

Haha, nah, I've got the dizzy and leads from my old mk2 polo in the boot of my scirocco, don't ask why,

Well I've had a nice up and down weekend...

Hello ZX9R's

They were running brilliantly for about 20minutes, before the hoses sucked themselves off the carbs, so I've spent today taking it all off again, put it back on, now I can't get it to run again :( it'll fire first turn of the key then just die regardless of what I do with the throttle, I'm hoping I can put it down to a flatter than flat battery...

And a couple of pics of the car while I'm here methinks

ZX9R carbs, chopped down standard manifold, joined together with some 50mm silicone hose :) I've done the whole conversion for less than £100 (Y)

It'll be alright I'm sure, I'll have my mates who actually know what they're doing with carbs look at it again!

You might want to move your harness straps so they're outside the headrest leg thingys, if you crash your head might fall off otherwise! Apparently anyway. The bike carbs must make an awesome noise, one of my friends bought an old scholl Audi 80 with bike carbs, it sounded like a plane on takeoff!

If I move them outside the legs, they'll fall of the edge of the seats ;)

And it is an Audi 80 engine, I bought a donor and swapped it last year, and yeah sounds awesome :D

I'll get to work tidying it all up when I have it sorted Boumsong, most of the wires you can see are now redundant, but aesthetics are the least of my worrys atm!

Knocked on a door tonight about a polovan as i see they have recently got an Astravan, so wondered if they wanted to sell the polo, havn't ever seen one before.

Was a fairly old guy, like late 50's, conversation started along the lines of "I couldn't sell it mate, its a part of me, ive had it since brand new and it would break my heart to get rid of it..."

About 30 minutes later we was on the lines of "Well if you leave you name and number for me, if i do decide to get rid of it i won't want alot, as long as i know its going to a good home"

So fingers crossed i'll get a phone call.

Had a good ol chat with him about VW's, and the van is MINT. Think he said he bought it in 88 for like 5500 :o He kept laughing and saying i can't believe someones actually knocking for it, and i can see your not going to ruin it.

Ahh i want :D

They're 40mm, with 165 jets (for now) on a 2.0 16v

I should imagine yours would be plenty enough for a 'rocco :)

Sweet, cheers. Any idea if I could use a cut down standard manifold on the 8v head? I'm guessing the answers no, but it'd be awesome if you could. Need to get my hands on one for a look really.

They sound gangster dude !

B)

It is a pretty ghetto job, even the injector holes in the mani are blocked with 1p pieces

Almost certain the answer is no, due to the spacing of the ports to allow for the exhaust mani right under it. A metal fab/engineering type place may be able to modify it for you for not much money though... Something like this -

Otherwise it's a Bogg Brothers job which isn't cheap!

Yeah, kinda what I was thinking, bit lame. Ah well, I'll probably get one fabricated. Not really wanting to spend Bogg Brothers money, just seems ridiculous to spend £200 odd on a manifold for carbs that cost me £25. haha
