Tom Booth
Chalk a straight line on the floor, parallel with your sills, an track the car that way. The only good way is spending 15 quid and get it sorted. The way we did it on my mini to get me to the tyre fitters was to get one wheel straight as possible, then measure from wheel to wheel (be it the center, edge etc) then get the same measurement on the other side. Dan6061
Tracking isn't just parallel on every car though, some toe in a bit, some toe out. It'll be easier to just go to a garage, and ask to watch them do it (say you're interested or something) and make sure they don't rip you off with it. Pashley26
For the sake of £20 take it to a garage
Danny
You can get it about straight by using a piece of string from the back edge of the rear wheel to the front edge of the front. Ill let you work out the rest. Then either get some tracking bars or take it to be tracked.
Jolfa
Alter the linkages, there'll be a pole that comes from the gearstick into a small clamp with all the linkages, adjust where the clamp, clamps the pole. Just do it small amounts at a time!

rich4130
Go for the MK3 polo! Get an ABD 1.4l GT, with a cam and some choice mods you have 100bhp in an 780 kilo car, mucho more fun than a scirocco! Or do what I've done and get a G40:)Oh, and the handling isn't all that bad, when there on a decent set of shocks and springs, with G'laderseite arb blocks to help retain the castor angle once lowered.http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=121255 - My daily atm!RichGo for the MK3 polo! RobinJI
As someone whos owned both an old polo (mk2 coupe S) and a scirocco to be honest, the polo would get left behind round the corners, not by tooo much, but it definatly would. Both standard or both modified. And in a straight line to be honest anything but a g40 would get left, its only about a 100kg weight difference.Polos are great fun little cars, and I do like them a lot, but having owned both I'd say I'd take the scirocco. Papa Manual
My best mates camper. He went a little crazy on the paint-job (it went down well on the continent). We've been on many an adventure in her. The attached pic is when we had a blow-out on a French motorway.

the666ers
Polo's are horrible, they handle shit and make a terrible base to put better vag engines in....In my experience they are much worse put together as a lot of them are spanish built so personally I'd just go for a mk2 golf. Some Mk 3's were even built in Slovakia!
