RobinJI
Yeah, that actualy is what he did, he cut it up and scrapped only the bits he absoloutly had to in order to keep the rest and re-build the car. Absolute legend.
Haz
No.Why would he just cut up a Rallye for the fun of it ? He's done something simply monumental to get the car that he loved back. So show him some respect and read the thread before saying something stupid.
Pashley26
Rofl....Thats the funniest thing i've ever seen !!!!!-Yes in effect thats what he did. But i was trying to put emphasis on why he did it, he did all of that simply to be driving a Rallye everyday in his state Ledge' !
Waddy
Finally changed the bushes..In the end it was rather simple. Only suffered 1 buggered bolt, which was swiftly drilled and replaced. Bushes poped in nice and easy, got plenty of grease everywhere. Job's a good 'un.And a random underside shot. Seems rather tidy..Bit rusty here n there, generally in pretty good nic though.Polly bushes? how much for the snowflakes, my mate might have them for his polo gt

quick_spider
Random Veedub question... again my gf's mk5 golf. Central locking is playing up on passenger side front door. Guessing the motor is about to kick the bucket. Are they part of the lock? Ebay/Breakers or stealership for a replacement - will probably end up fitting it myself.TaJon

Jolfa
Will try the stealership... Wish me luck!Good luck! The prices are pretty resonable, just be prepared to argue that the car you need a part for does actually exist Corrados.... what'r they like?Like MK2 Golfs but 200kg heavier
Tom_
Does it make them drive any better/worse?Im kinda tempted to buy one declare it SORN for abit till I have more NCB n stuff, tinker around with it and then drive it in a year or so.Theres a g60 on auto trader for 995... Jolfa
Theres a g60 on auto trader for 995...Then steer well clear of it, G-Lader chargers are renound for blowing up, and they hardly make amazing power anyway...The only Corrado worth having is the VR6.A Corrado is a MK2 underneath, all the chassis, suspension, beams and such are all the same as MK2. I couldn't comment on how well they go or handle as I've never even been in a moving one, but I could never justify one (as mighty as they may look) because they're just weighty MK2's that cost twice as much. Jolfa
VR6 for the noise, 20VT (assuming that's what you mean) for the tunability.Personally though, turbo's don't seem right in VW's, especially older ones. It's all about the charger Edit - Just not G-Lader chargers Edited August 27, 2008 by Jolfa
Jolfa
I've had a quick look around and I can only find what is basically the G-ladder charger for Vdubs. What are the other ones that are available?Alot of people use Eaton superchargers from new Mini's (M45), Merc's (M62), and Jags I think (M70something I think) and if I was going to do it, it'd be with an Eaton purely because they sound like an angry wasp People tend to use Rotrex or Vortech chargers on VR6's though, and from what I've read it's meant to be fairly straight forward, and good for 300+bhp I'm not sure if Bahn Brenner do their own aswell, I know they do the kits to charge a 16v.. RobinJI
20VT over Vr6 anyday, corners are fun, keep it that way by not bolting half of germany over your front axle haha.I love you guys, I've been spending so long trying to decide what engine to put in the rocco in a year or two and somehow I hadnt even thought of a G60 because of reliability, but an eatoned one would be perfect! Still dont know what I'll go for in the end though, as I'm still undecided as to how much power I want. Hopefully by then a mate will have his G60 turbo mk1 up and running by then, so I can see what big power in a mk1 chassis feels like.An angry wasp is about as good description as you'll get of the noise an eaton makes. haha, its awesome! RobinJI
To be fair I'm probably looking at 250 tops, if you need much more than that in a 900kg FWD car, theres something wrong with either your driving or the rest of the cars set-up! hahaAlthough my opinion may change once i get used to a bit more power. haha. RobinJI
Stuck on wheels. Its now down to Ronal LS's or Lenso BSX's (split BBS copies) hmmm... I'm slightly siding with the Ronals at the moment.
RobinJI
Yeah, unfortunatly I'm not rich. haha.I'm not sure either would stay all silver, its just I kinda prefer the straight dish rather than the staggered one on the lensos
Will Arnold
i thought that it was the scirocco which has the same chassis as the mk2 golf? and then the corrado has a different chassis?hmm..
RobinJI
i thought that it was the scirocco which has the same chassis as the mk2 golf? and then the corrado has a different chassis?hmm..Nope, the mk2 scirocco (what me and boumsong have) is based on the mk1 golf. The corado is based on the mk2 golfAlthough I could have swarn I read somewhere that the corrado shared some of its rear suspension with a passat, but they could easily have been talking shit. JD™
Nope, the mk2 scirocco (what me and boumsong have) is based on the mk1 golf.is it just me who finds that confusing? what was the mk1 rocco based on?
JD™
according to wiki (not because I didn't believe you, i just didn't ):VW chose to use the A1 chassis shared with the Golf/Rabbit and Jetta (which was not introduced until 1979, well after Scirocco was planned) to underpin the new Sciroccothat's talking about 1st gen roccos too... i only said it originally because I always thought that it was always based on the golf. Maybe wiki and me are wrong though.
