nmt_oli
Heres a demo of the sound deadening stuff:
craigjames
looks good oli do you need to double up using the paint on sound deadening and the mat? or you just goin over kill? good point on powering the fronts, dont know weather just to do with out the 6x4's as the sub will probs drown them out. the only probs with using a bridged 4 channel amp for the sub and speakers is i'll have to use just a normal preout on the head unit, rather than the specific sub output. spose its no big deal! oh well. very interested tic, if you could pm with the sort of money your wanting for them both. oli what sort of money did you pay for the wiring for your sub/amp/component set up? just so i can price it up.cheers
nmt_oli
Oh god, i got the amp and sub of nick as a swap for bike parts, had the other amp already. Also had the Comps for ages, as they were to go in my mini. Also had the HU already, at that was for the mini. O bought the JBL 6x4s at RRP, £25 i think.Cabling, ive got about £100 worth, cause i used branded audio stuff. 3x RCAs 1x massive 4 gauge power cable, 2x very high quality speaker wire runnign the entire length of the car. Ive got a power cap to add in now too. There is a thread on talk audio about how to get cheap cabling. It involves using home stuff, makign your own RCAs, and using some welding earth lead i think for power.

Adskivw
Trials and dubs - Could this forum get much beeter!!!All you guys running german number plates- do you put them on just for show/pics or do you keep them on the whole time? Have you ever been pulled over? I know the letters probably just about conform to dvla standard, but the D in the blue box won't! German plates are illegal if it isnt a german registered car, but if you carry your english plates with you and dont get pulled over by a dickhead you should be okI had them, but i must of got the dickhead pull me over because i had my normal plates in the car, and he still gave me a fine, Anyhu heres my pride and joy - Mk2 golf, only a 1.6 driver, but with a GTI Cam slotted in and a K&N air filter, it sounds mint! Its going into the body shop to have quite a lot of work done (moving of things and a lot of smooooothing)its since gone a lil bit lower,As its sitting right now,Srtipped out rear, to make room for a roll cage and full ICE (2 subs, 3 amps, 6x9's and a power cap) all installes by www.badassmotors.com in newark! Will post up pics of it completely finished! nmt_oli
Looks like you've done a good job there Oli.You got a proper spray gun?Rattle cans for the win!!!!!!!! Halfords satin black, 500ml. Got abotu 8 of them now, used 3 doing the first coat on the roof, bonnet, wings and inside of new tailgate. Hopefully will have the rest of the car done tomorrow. Looks great from a distance, but imperfections up close. oh well, it was never going to be a full on show car, and will be used as a daily so no biggy really. looks much better than it did though, looks very mean with the flat black paint. Can't wait to ge the big bumpers on, will be ordering smoked headlights ASAP too, to go with these: Pissed off with flys though, they fly past when yoru spraying, get intoxicated and land in the wet paint! grr!I was feeling pretty light headed after colour coding stuff in the work shop lol. Spray cans and confined spaces! All masked up:Tailgate:Gloss spolier:First coat of gloss on the grille: Edited April 11, 2007 by nmt_oli

RicH_87
did you just spray it straight onto the old paint?no other prep/primer/basecoat??if so, you sure it won't just flake off??
011001000110010101110010
Halfords paint wont flake, it becomes one with what ever you spray with it
nmt_oli
Primered where ive fillered.rubbed everything down with 800 grit wet to take of the shine and make sure the surface is clean. Then removed all dust. should key the paint in enough. If anywhere does flake, il just rub it back and put another coat on. Thats the great thign abotu the flat colour, easy to match, no polishing. If someone keys it, il just get the spray can out!All rubber seals are out, so there will be paint underneath them, so less chance of flaking around those.
