Mark W
Alright, cool. Are you doing something with Onza? some sort of small sponsor or something? you used to prototype some forks for them didnt you? and the Tensile freewheel?Just quite interested in this frame.Looks mint 'neways..Mat I've been testing for them since...erm...'03, I think? So yeah, just doing bits 'n' pieces...It's a cool frame though. It's the one in the pics of Ben Slinger's bike with "Seniour Euro Champion 2005" or something on the TT.Are you going on any Bristol rides or something this year? I may haul my arse out to them, so you could touch it up all you wanted then

Mark W
Haha, yeah, downtube's seen some action? It's all been re-painted recently though so it's in fairly good nick at the moment.Chainstays look pretty mint too, which is probably a good sign? Consider yourself added, btw
PaRtZ
I think the rear triangle looks like something out of star wars.... As said before I can't see the chain stays lasting long. But still its a great idea and good to see Onza at least trying it
mat hudson
it rides rediculousley nicely from what i could tell aswell just seems to sit on the backwheel. didnt really try it for much more than kickhoping cos it was cold and sliperaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaae. tensioners worked cool though. Simon
I cant understand your hype about not having to split the chain using a chain tool either, splite links solved that problem a while back.Split links also solved growing old, considering they would snap at the slightest sign of a foot getting on the pedal and applying pressure, and shit the bed killing you and everyone in a mile radius around you, normally just days after you put the chain together. Mark W
What are the built-in chain tensioners like? Looks like a good idea and a end to a loose chain Tom. Pretty damn good. the little metal blocks that butt up agains tthe axle are mad tight to the frame, so they hold in place super well, and the bolts are easy to adjust 'n' stuff. All good. Had to tap them further into the frame when I first got the chain one, but they're easy to use Really good idea 'IMO'. They've been on BMXs for a while now (Pashley Fortress, and some other random one, but someone made a kit where you just had to drill a hole in your dropout and you could run them), and they're awesome.AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSOOOOOMMMMMMMMEEEEEEE.So yeah. Tom Booth
Might just be me, But the cockpit on that bike looks really long. Looks a good'en aswell...Tom
Mark W
Rear end's the same length as a Zip, just the front end's a bit shorter (As well as a lower - slightly - BB), so it's actually a relatively 'normal' cockpit, not mad-long or anything.Got a chance to ride it a little bit more today. Did some rolling gaps and pedal gaps (ooh ), and it felt really good. It feels like a mini-stock in a way; it's just really stable, but you can still sorta send it. Has that stock-like feeling when you gap like you're sort of in the air, then you've landed, if you get me? Mods alway feel like you're kinda tucking throughout the gap, and just have a different feel to stocks...Meh, smirnoff and southern comfort are clouding my judgement Either way, feels like a little stock, really. If I had a lower stem it'd be pretty close feeling to a stock, but much more flickable, which is a good thing?
joe b
Finally got it built up. Had a bit of trouble with the headset removal, but it turned out an old metal socket set worked as both a headset-cup-remover, AND as a b*****d file to get rid off the churned up slivers of metal from the screwdriver attempt. Good stuff.Paparazi headset remover pic...Then the bike:It looks dark here mainly 'cos of the glare from the snow. It looks super good in the flesh though. Rides pretty handily too, although I've only been able to just hop around in my garden on the back wheel It's weird at first 'cos it's different to the Zip which is what I'm used to, but it feels really stable and nice. The BB - from what I can tell - is lower, which probably helps that. Think there's only 5mm or so difference, so it's not Vinco vs. Coust style BB height It weirded me out seeing the chain above the chainstay too. Really, really weirded me out The chain tensioners work super well though, which is cool! Also, I "did a TF" when I was cutting the bashguard rubber. Hospital ahoy If anyone wants a close-up of anything, just ask...Oh, and Rob - Rory really isn't anything to do with Onza Pretty noice matey! But please, cut the steer tube! Think some stickers would be decent too. But it still looks mega!Cheers,Joe.
Mark W
I'm thinking of dicking round with my stem height, so I'm gonna keep 'em on for a bit just to be able to play around. Not to mention the Team steerer is so thick I'd need some kind of He-man to cut it for me? I was thinking of getting some custom stickers made up, but I dunno really. Sounds like effort 'n' stuffs... Joe_Elding
You wouldn't mind getting a few rough measurements would you Mark? my mate is interested in getting one when it comes out but isn't sure if it will be too long/short for him etc.cheers
Mark W
Stays appear to be around the 362-365mm area, so the same as the T-Pro, Zip, Levelboss (I'm pretty sure?) and Team (I think ), so they're pretty standard. The wheelbase was around the 1035mm mark.BB rise was I think +55, although I could only work that out with Mat holding a broom across by the axles and measuring from that. Ghetto? I think so So yeah, around the 55mm mark.Any more for any more?
manxrider
After the GU I think I might be going back to onza! Had a chance to ride it properly yet mark?
Mark W
Nope.*flips snow the bird*I'm gonna rag about town on my BMX in a bit and see what's snowy and what's not, then hopefully get to actually - - ride it on more stuff than a single pallet and some curbs...
