Hey all,

Thought i would share the new look Street Furniture Trials site. It has taken hours to get right, so constructive criticism would be good. We have cut the site down to make it more simple, and easy to keep up-to-date. The crew page isn't finished yet, we are still waiting for pictures. There are 2 new vids on there aswell, both filmed in Kent, so get downloading :P

Don't forget to keep checking the site for updates on recent rides :)

First thing, text as pictures is a big no no. Should never ever be done for main paragraphs. Obviously for banners and shit it's fine, but main paragraphs, no no no. Atleast the quality is ok so it's not glaringly obvious that it's a picture, which is one of the main faults with using pictures as text.

Also, the way you've gone about the whole massive background is a bit sketch. Personally, i'd have a 1 pixel high picture that spans the length of the gradient, left to right, then have that logo as a gif with transparency. Would save so much bandwidth and loading times it's unreal.

Pretty simple site though, so not much to review, but i guess that's what you was going for, and it's come out not so bad. :)

Although, i might review how you are displaying your "archive" page with the dates at the start of the sentance like that, as it just looks like a mass of text, rather then a listing of galleries, if you get me.

The reason the intro paragraph was an image was because i was going to use fancy text. It has been changed now to normal text. I have also changed the background so it is 1 pixel wide, but i have left the header images as jpeg. I like the archive page how it is, the idea of the design was to try and make people read a bit about the ride then look at the images, not just go straight to them.

Thanks for all the replies (Y)

liking the site now... so much better than the old old one (dunno about the tech side of it, ill let the geeks decide that) anyways seems to be loads of pics of that clem guy  and not many of the other guys, maby you should talk to your photographer.

keep up the good work.

P.S. Deal on sat?

Yeah sounds good, yeah that Clem guy always has the photographer taking pictures of him and not other riders :-

I quite like it.

Few changed I'd do to it would be: Smaller links, probably horizontally underneath the banner, or along the left hand side going vertically.

Like a smallish white, simple font.

Too many image for my liking really.

It's good, all the same.

Easy navigation etc.

Another thing, for the galleries, try setting up a 'next' button for going through the images.

Myself, and probably many on here, are too lazy and don't like closing the page, then clciking on a new pic. etc. :P

Good work (Y)

overall i like it - when reading the blog-thing about the ride, and clicking on the picture links it would be really good if they opened just to the right of the text where that pic of the guy on the back wheel is, instead of opening a new window.

dunno if that been said, didn't read the whole topic
