Sam Oliver
Loads of posts on this topic ! You will find people have there own opinion, mine is the 05s are slightly better, (feel nicer & tpa lasts a little longer) I would buy the 04s at the mo though because they are alot cheaper. anzo
(feel nicer & tpa lasts a little longer)you think so? I run an 04 lever on 05 calipers. I think the 05's are terrible designs, with the 04 you can bodge them with a bolt from your brake mounts and its even better. Cheap and cheerful and if the original TPA goes on the 04, its easily fixed unlike the 05.Personally, I'd only ever have an 05 lever if i had a metal TPA adjuster. Thurston
05's in my opinion are far better and have a nicer feel because there shaped more to your finger.Cheers Thurston
011001000110010101110010
I used to love my 04 magura, and when i changed to an 05 I hated it for a while but you get used to it. They are better designed because you have to try hard to break the TPA.
nmt_oli
I still prefer the 04 version, and if you can find an old lever blade (pre 2001 i think, not sure) they are flat (like a hope lever) rather than curved, so even more comfy, although thats personal preference. Also todge should have his fresh products lever out soon, which will fit into the 04 body, and be a bit like the RB lever- but even better! I prefer the 05 brakes as they are more comfortable in my opinion.

trials_man
I'd buy the 04 ones. They are cheaper, more reliable and less likely to break.

Jaffacakes
IMO i'd say:04: Stock05: ModBut meh, its your own choice What's that got to do with anything. I had a 05 lever and didn't realy mind it, The TPA broke in a few months, and after had a few goes on my mate's 04 I realised how superiour they were and came to my senses and brought one. They 05's just feel weak and flimsy like they have tried to shave to much weight off it and just made it crap. If you wan't a manly lever the 04 is the way to go .
munch8987
05' all the way mate.....i bought a set for my new build...and they fell much better...lever blade's alot more comfortable and the pivot point much improved...plus...u havnt got the chance of snappin the tpa off on an nasty landing

Trials Boy
Just curious, why?Well 05 maggies seem too work better, when there both set up excellent on both mod and stock, i prefer 04 maggies on my stock, if i went to mod, i'd have 05 ones. Jared
I know this isnt strictly answering the question but...I had a ride of my mates T-mag which had an 05 rear maggie and to be honest i thought it was lame compared to my Cable brake. It looked like it was set up properly and that but didnt seem to hold very well, its like nearly new but its bedded in so i dont know what the problem could be.I only have tektro v's with standard (crap) pads and mine works better in everyway.Do you think he should take the pads of and have a look at them and clean them up or something. Its good until you get pretty vertical on the back wheel, it doesnt hold and you get a sore a**e for a couple of days. Well, I hear arguements of a good set up Vee brake being just as good as a Magura. His magura will be shit for a reason...shit bleed, shit pads, shit grind, too much distance between pads and rim, too soft on TPA? Gowd knows.Maguras are shit-hot, but you need them set up perfectly to be exellent brakes, and oviously due to the abuse through trials they require a lot of looking after to keep them good.I can guarentee that your mates is set up incorrectly in one way or another, when you have a perfect magura setup, you KNOW you have a perfect magura setup.
