Sameer
'Fraid this threads gotta be revived shortly in my hour of need. I basically wanna kinda upgrade some shit but only slightly 'cos my money is specifically aimed at other things at the moment and so I haven't set aside much for the guitar stuff. But anyway... are these two items any decent? amp and pedal.I don't have a pedal at all at the moment so anything will be an upgrade obviously. And my amp is a piece of shit, pretty much. Is that amp one of gay mini-amp things? Or is it of decent girthability standards. The picture doesn't really help me.I am quite the noob when it comes to electric guitars, as you can tell. Ben Cox
i have that amp, and even though its quite small it still packs a good punch and has great adjustabillity Ben
steve sturt
As for the bass vs. guitar debate, I would say that the bass is easier to learn, but way way harder to play well. Good guitar players arent hard to find, but a good bassist is next to impossible. Timekeeping is way more important on the bass too.
Houseface
can anyone explain to me what tremelo picking is?steve.
MasterOfGussets
As far as I know "tremolo picking" is just fast alternate picking. Should be an explanation in Total Guitar.
Dan Clark
You use your forearm instead of your wrist to tremolo pick. But yeah, basically super fast alternative picking, sorta like strum the note really fast, and try keep movement to a minimum. Barbra
i only just got round to getting my guitar sorted. I found out that its an acoustic guitar that was brought from argos So i was wondering if anything is good enough to start with? e.g an acoustic guitar from argos or is there anything specific that is good to start off with? If i need something else i would much rarther start off with an electric guitar.P.S THREAD RESURECTION!
boris_on_trials
Hehehe an argos acoustic will be fine to start off with. Its actually a very clever idea not spending to mutch money on a guitar before you know if you want to stick with it.When you change to electric guitar the two best brands to get are squire of epiphone depending on what sound you want. Then if you stick with it and get good enough you can buy a gibson or fender.I might be getting a gibson zakk wylde custom. There sweetMy question. Does anybody know where i can get the Zakk Wylde Custom U2 special edition from?(it's the one thats in the colours of the how to dismantle an atomic bomb album)
Haz
I would only say one thing about an argos guitar, re-string it, ASAP. Most of the time, strings get f**ked in storage. And it's a good time to look at basic stuff which you will need to do like re-stringing.Boris, I think the guitar you look for is in fact not a Gibson, but an Epiphone, I don't think Zakk Wylde's custom series are available as Gibson, but replicas are made by Epiphone. Haz
I don't kno much/anything about guitar strings, especially acoustic, but D'Addarios have always been recommended by both classical and acoustic guitarists. Having said that, on your first 'tar, you could have any strings, so long as they are new and you'd feel an improvement.Your local music shop will be able to offer you more help and alternatives.
