BeNNy
ZOO! pads worked great for me when i had a smooth rim & tar, how long have you had them? maybe they need to be bedded in. If they still dont work as well, get a grind and get some Heatsink blues They're amazing

Put you pads in the kettle then sand off the surface then clean your rim or give it a grind. Is your break blead properly?

trials_man
Hi there. On my mod ive got a smooth rim with a bit of tar and koxx blox browns. They are absolutely amazing. Ive had them a fair while now and they still have the bite they had when i first bought them. The wear rate is good aswell. They have hardly worn down 1 bit and even if they have its un-noticable
Ewannnn
zoo and GU pads are the best without a grind imo but overall coustpads/koxx browns are amazing with grinds

Ive had them a fair while now and they still have the bite they had when i first bought them. The wear rate is good aswell. They have hardly worn down 1 bit and even if they have its un-noticable yes because you are using tar of cours ethey will hold well and have great bite any pad will with tar. but you might also get a problem with your pads sticking to the rim and not returning. i agree koxx browns are good for wear rate. sorry if seams i am keeping on or having a go but he is asking about pads so giving a review of a pad wen using tar is basically useless. i used rubbish v-brakes at 1 stage years ago with tar and they had great hold and bite and then were just basic v-brakes that come on bikes.sorry Glynn
N.Wood
Tar is shit people. Shit. People used to use it when magura reds and blacks were the only pads out, using a gring with them was utterly shite and coke/tar was the only way.But fast forward 5 years and here we are, with way too many trials pads than we really need. So.... Either use a CLEAN rim (use a de-greaser) and Zoo pads or similar, or use a grind and some Plaz/Cousts/whatever you fancy. But honestly, tar was played out like, oh my god, like ten years ago lolololol.
JT!
why spend that money on them pads then if you are using tar just use magura blacks basicaly any pad will work well with tar well untill ur pads dont release Soooo not true.I have zoo pads are use as little tar as i possibly can (which isn't that much). And i'v never ridden a better brake. (And i'v ridden coust pads and koxx browns.)Zoo's are the softest pads out there as far as i know. Ergo the best on a smooth rim. So if they won't work on a smooth rim nothing will.

I just put the smallest bit on so you can't really see it ether. The best bit about my set up is you can hear the break lock. Oooh it sounds so good. Euro Braker
I use CRMs and very little tar. I find it very good to use and it doesnt slip. DONT GET HEATSINK BLUES FOR A NON GROUND RIM. Unless there ultimate s**te wheels made of hard rubber. Post a pic of your pads, would like to see your scads (scooter + pads) Ian

shucksmith1
i suggest that you bite the bullet and go to argoooos and get a grinder. mine was 15 bucks and is one of the best investments iv made. they make life so much easyer and you never have to wonder why your brakes arnt working, as all they will need is another grind. if you do go for this option make sure you have a rim that will hold a grind well and not just fall off the rim the first bluddy time you go out. also when you get one feal free to ask how to do it as it is so easy its unreal.matt

Put you pads in the kettle then sand off the surface then clean your rim or give it a grind. Is your break blead properly?Dude, if you stick magura pads in the kettle, the pads will most probably fall right out the backings as soon as you brake. And for the record, zoo pads are amazing if you don't like grinding, fact. But if you do like grinding, you have to go with plaz CRM's, they never friggin' wear out I swear it's unreal .
