New Disk Brake

I need a new disk brake for my Monty. This is because I broke my old Magura Louise, and would much prefer a disk to maggie. I have about £70 to spend, and at the moment, I am thinking about going for the Avid BB7 185mm. Just a few questions though. >>>

Is this the best brake for the money?

Where can I buy this cheapest? (Cheapest I found, is £71.99 from Wiggle)

I don't think it will be, but will the 185mm be too powerful for my Monty 221 X-Lite forks?

What colour is the standard lever that comes with the BB7?

Thanks a lot,

Sam (Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)

As far as I know the BB7 does not come with a lever, but they have got to be one of the best disc brakes ever made(especially for the money). The 185mm should not be too powerful for your X-lite forks, I am running my 185mm on my Hydra forks and all's well. And if you can't tell already I would definately recommend it and I think the cheapest place to buy it would be CRC or maybe the Woolly Hat Shop.

Hope this helps (Y)

Thanks, that helps! :)

If they don't come with a lever, which lever would be best for me to buy?

I just looked on CRC and they only do a 203mm for the front, so I can't get it from there.

Also, does that mean that the BB7 doesn't come with cable or pads either?

Thanks,

Sam (Y)

BB7 for reals nukka.

Get a De-awe-some lever, they're around £19 from memory.

Any cable properly lubed should do the trick.

Rotor size wise, 203mm would work but may well be way too powerful as you've said.

The wooley hat shop (can't help you on websites, sorry) may well have the 160mm rotor.

Avid BB5's seem to work well too, but arn't as adjustable as their more expensive cousin.
