Heatsink
This is the hanger on my Base TA26, which I've noticed is also exactly the same as the Saracen X-ile and X-tort frames I used to have.I was wondering if anyone else has this on their bikes? I'm in need of a new one, or even a few thinking of the future! The more options on where I can buy it from the better, and hopefully I can find somewhere that the price is nearer to £5 than £15!The only sources I have found for this hanger are Halfords (as a Saracen part) or www.betd.co.uk They have a list of hangers they can provide, and it's number 27 on there:BETD Hanger PDF^ This is very useful to help identify your hanger, and which one it isn't too because some are similar.1. I'd love to know if your bike has this same hanger because it gives me another possible place to buy replacements from.2. Does anyone know if the www.mechhanger.tk guys are still around? A year or longer ago these guys were doing a great job supplying cheap hangers. If I could get in contact with one of these guys then that would be useful. Maybe there's scope to rejuvenate the cheap hangers service?Steve

nmt_oli
That particular one is very common, various carrera models, saracen MAD 2003, some rebock frames, along with Hardcore DSVD and similar 'unbranded' frames all use this hanger- in fact all the ones ive listed there use the exact same weld on drop out straight out of a taiwanese frame builders catalogue! Its amazing the fact that its so hard/expensive to get hold of one, ive seen frames sell on ebay with this hanger for less than it costs to replace the hanger via halfords!. street trials rider
i'm in need of a new hanger soon, but instead of skimping on the ££s i'm going to get a BETD one.... we sell them in work (halfords) and they are made to a much higher quality, instead of been moulded snap-happy alloy they are CNC'd from a lovely billet of alloy, much stronger and will take more abuse before they break...... and are a lovely anodised black

nmt_oli
have you looked at derailleurhanger.com? they sent me a replacement hanger for my bt5 and it was machined and much stronger than the original.Ive just had a look- and while they offer a good range, not all are machined, some are still cast OE replacements, and there the same price, which at $22 i think is very expensive (about £15 still). Mech hangers are cheap to make, they should not be being sold for such rediculous prices! I bought my no-name jump frame brand new for £80, yes its £15 for a replacement hanger- thats 1/5th of the price of the frame!!!
Heatsink
I found it on the American website - what an interesting find that site is even if the prices aren't much better! In the Shogun section:It's a cast version, that's clear from the finish.Interesting stuff!
