Tomm
none of the auto settings are worth it for me.....you can't control iso for one thing...auto is just worthless. Nothing really comes out bad in manual...shoot in raw; do you own shutter speed/ aperture/ iso/metering/white balance etc...get the right lenses...get the right lighting...My 300D *should* have P mode which allows you to change WB, ISO and other things. I.e. It's not quite full-auto. But like I said, I can't use it. I need to get it fixed but it'll cost me about £100 apparently. Unless anyone knows anywhere in the UK that will do Canon repairs cheaper? F-Stop, I'm looking in your direction...

They're a registered Canon repair centre, always helpful, very, very knowledgeable and keen to do warrenty repairs if it's within it's warrenty still. They've done some fairly big stuff for me, and the quotes are always less than I expect. Plus their service is really good. When I've sent my camera in before, they've emailed me a quote with exactly what they plan to do, parts they need, labour cost etc for me to approve before they continue.Give them a call, but be persistant. There phone is often busy.

Tomm
I was quoted £100 by Jessops, but I don't know if they take a bit of a cut. I guess I'll phone around and get some quotes.
