James_Porter
hahahahahahahhahanyways, now i am a little more awake and with it than i was last night...i had a echo control 1065 before my ashton for around 6 months, dont get me wrong it was a great frame but to be honest i got bored with it.when i got my ashton i noticed how bored i was with the echo, it was just so restricting, couldnt bunny hop it very well etc and in my opinion it is just no where near as fun as the ashton is...my ashton measures in at 1055 and i have had aound 3 sets of forks on it (zoo's at the moment) and everytime its been 1055. but i can still tap it...it took me a while to adjust to tapping so that i didnt hit some important parts, but now i got used to tapping on it im back to where i was on the echo, did 53" the other day in southport...matt and phil were there to back me up that i did it:P, they did it aswell...woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo aha. but i can bunny hop it aswell, which is summat i deffo couldnt do on the echo...my sidehopping has improved on it aswell...apparently the wall i side hopped yesturday in bristol was 49" but you know...its numbers, could be wrong. but i could only just get 45" on the echo.and then there is the "today i feel like pounding some akrigg street" WICKED... hop on it and if your in the mood for wall rides... spins its all possible on the frame...the headangle is a bit steeper than the echo...which makes it feel longer than it is. and it also make it awesome for front wheel moves..g turns, roll backs blah blah. and i think its better for natty...thats my 50cent on the matter...no doubt you wont listen. UrbanLegend
Just out of interest, what stem geo is everyone running? I'm currently building mine with a Thomson 100 x 10 stem and Zoo bars, not sure what sort of spacerage to put under there... I'm new to this BB rise game. James_Porter
i use a 110 echo stem and zoo bars with no stackers. i tried it with 2 5mm stackers then went down too 1 and have found it best with no stackers... cause the headtube is quite long anyway.and dave what are you on about, i was messing about when we were at phils and i said that. fool
Bucky
If your keen on bunnyhops go for the ashton, never ever even ridden one I don't think, but would be better for bunnyhops. not many people can bunnyhop controls with flat bars etc, But I have a 1060 pure with risers, high ones and I can bunnyhop it ok.that cool, im riding a pure 1080 with blackspire bars and can bunny hop pretty good apparently.hopefully i will get better one the control 1065 with control stem and some zoo bars when they have them in stock from mike @ MJCcycles.comgo for the control, im gettign one and iv had 2 ashton and loved short bike and i reckon this control will be perfect for my riding. Waynio
^^^ AGREE!!!!! ^^^^^hahaim "testing the water" ian just wanting to do something a bit different and after seeing what porter was still able to do on a 1055 i just thought it might mek a change, but still might be on 1075 (which is what my belaey sizes upto @ mo) you never know its all about whats comfortable for you personally, i got over porters and it felt grand. stood over other bikes EVEN an old skool megamo radical measuring like 1035 haha and it just feels "different" to the norm. long bike feel stable and extremly controlled when your "backwheel" orientated. rolling and messing around a slightly shorter wheelbase feels more flickable. we'll see what happens. but i nearly did something i shouldnt have done when i went to spain. i would have loved to have tried an ashton out but with all the filming and stuff was hard to do with me being sponsored by koxx, it was mianly to TRY the geometry out more than owt as we had ashtons at the shop.Waynio...........................attention to detail on the ashtons have got so much better too. loving the new gussets down by the b/b and the seat junction. just little things impress the most

T-Limburn
i am also hesitating on whether to get the short control or the ashton.i have been on ash kennard's long control and it felt pretty nice, but not quite right.so i went on fatmike's short control in bristol and that just felt sooo nice.there is also the fact that watching porter on the ashton on sunday was very inspirational.so if i get a control its definantly going to be the short one, but now im also liking the ashton...they are fairly similar geometry wise though.Control 1065Wheelbase: 1065mmChainstay Length: 375mmBB Rise: 10mmHead Angle: 72 degreesAshtonWheelbase: 1065mmChainstay Length: 380mmBB Rise: 20mmHead Angle: 72 degreesthe ashton has slightly longer chainstays with slightly more bb rise. i'm stuck! Tony Harrison
Ashton measures up at 1055mm wheelbaseEDIT: Plus I'd say the head angle is nearer 73 than 72, but I haven't measured it... James_Porter
ye the ashton is slightly shorter than what they say *1055* mine measures at, as ian has said. but the headangle is a lot steeper meaning it feels a lot more roomy in the *cockpit*i prefer the +20 bb rise than the echos +10, it just feels better on the back wheel imo and im guessing that helps with the bunny hopping side of things aswell cause the ashtons are a lot easier to bunny hop.if you want some fun, get an ashton.............i can honestly say im having a lot more fun riding it than the echo AND its get a jesture of a seat, ALSO!!!!! acts as a mud guard. beast. UrbanLegend
Yep, Ive bought one Same here muhaha, although mine is from a mate and he's had it months. It's like the Planet X Zebdi thing all over again, remember that? You weren't cool unless you rode a Zebdi (and ripped the bb shell off the frame)

Buybuybuy!Sponsorship for the win.Does help that they are fantastic frames though nah its more to do with the fact that no one had them when they first came out, so there was no feedback to go on except the reputation of the old frames (which didn't exactly have the best rep)i can honelstly say i bought mine off the fact that i was sick of uci "inch cherishing" gayness, and through speaking to Ali on msn about how much he liked how the frame rode. i love minewell done sir Ashton
Tony Harrison
I bought mine because I loved the older version but the new one had every improvement I could think of. Perfect! Yes, the inch cherishing is pants... "Oh, I had a good ride today because I managed to tap 50 inches". Yeah, nice one mate, but did you have fun....
