if things are changing to uci what will happen to categories because i still can't get my head round uci categories, all the different names confuse me. will it run as elite/expert/inter/novice or will it be all those master, cadet etc.

if it is running master cadet etc which one is at a similar level to inter? or maybe even slightly easier than inter seeing as its uci?

oh yeah and what membership, licenses etc do we need? i have tykes and british cycling but no acu, can i enter or do i need to pay a whole load more membershipand license fees?

oh yeah and why can you no longer be found on biketrialuk website? not done a runner have you?

sorry to ask so many questions but i'm quite interested in riding some more uci stuff

cheers

BIU run 'Poussin, Benjamin, Minime, Cadet, Senior and Elite' for 20" and 'Expert and Master' for 26" too. Just that most clubs tend to re-name them for better understanding (Y) . Im sure YMSA catagories will stay 'Novice, Intermediate, Expert, Elite'. But if they dont then: Poussin=Novice(white), Benjamin=Novice/Intermediate(white/blue), Minime=Intermediate(blue), Cadet=Expert(red), Senior=Expert(red), Elite=Elite(yellow).

:)

Cheers,

Joe.

ok for entries see the post in trials chat for the info,

the categories will be the same as last year no change there,

you need to be a member of ymsa and have a ymsa licence all the same as last year,

we have not done a runner and if they wish the biketrial uk can show our events on thier site just like any one else,

so give a sae sent to me asap and we see you there on the day.

and thanks to jo for trying to help

just checking on dates etc and its come clear that every single one of your events this year (except aug 6th) clashes with other clubs events. ok some of them are the southern clubs who don't chare riders anyway but could this not have been avoided, i was seriously considering riding the whole YMSA championship this season but theres no point now because i'm also riding tykes and the two clash.

:( not a very happy trials rider

any chance of the dates getting sorted out so us riders can actually ride both instead of having to ride one club only?

Dates for YMSA biketrials 2006 are as follows

12th March Burycliffe Quarry - clash with ebtc

1st May Bracken Rocks - clash with west of england

11th June Carsington Pastures - clash with tykes and hampshire

(no date yet) Bracken Rocks

16th July Dudwood Farm - clash with tykes

6th August Carsington Pastures - no clash!!!

Totally agree Tom, surely the dates will have to be sorted, i for one was

hoping to do both championships. With all the weekends we dont have a

trial on it must be possible to sort. (Y)

surely you could just log onto biketrialuk and see when theres no events on. what really confuses me is why you guys dont involve yourself with biketrialuk, surely its better for eveyone if all the clubs in the uk work together, schoolboy errors like running comps on the same weekend as another or in some cases two other clubs are just unnessecary, all its going to do is stuff up everyones events by spliting the riders and making them do one or the other championship instead of both.

i know excactly what pressures there are on comp organisers, you may be forgetting i also organise comps (occasionally it may be but all the same...) but all the same surely working together will only improve the sport...

if you want a hand getting the calendar to fit with everyone elses feel free to give me a shout and i'll look into it for you, i can usually find a free afternoon to help out. (just pm me for my number)

cheers

Maybe this is now showing the growth in the trials world just like in moto trials there are many events on in one week end no one worries about it they just go to the one they want,

so in t few years lets say there are more clubs what do you want us to do make more than 52 weeks in a year just so you can go to all trials,

well i have looked at my dates and they are good for me sorry they clash a little but this was not intend at the start i look at nationals, euros and international events and also top uci events in with my family and i go to and i find the dates that we have best to date.

also i was biketrial uk that changed there rules to us this year not us to them.

so entry forms are now here to send out thank you to all the folk that have sent a SAE so far will be sorting them asap

lets have a good year in trials

im just looking at the list of dates here and am wondering where you could fit the ymsa dates in, theres a few weekends free but no way of fitting all round in, i wanted to do the ymsa rounds but it looks like ll only get to a couple because of other trials which are closer to me so more worth while going to for me

so i think its a good job some ones taking the time to arrange these trials at all.

so most people need to get the list of dates in front of them and decide which events your going to go to well before hand and that way you can pick the trials you want.

lets face it some people like me may not want to consider the tyke trials as they are pretty far to travel to.

Just gotta look in the back of T+MX news and see just how much mototrials dates clash, it's pretty mad...

Dave - which ones are you thinking of going for? If you let me know in advance I can book the time off and remember to keep some money spare to pay for entry + petrol + stuffs.

Dave, do you mean the 1st of may? or infact the 30th of april? Or is the trial on a monday? :)

[attachmentid=2772]

I've quickly put all the uk comps (taken from your post and biketrialuk) into a spread sheet, so we can quickly see what comps are overlapping. Although I do understand you have to prioriatize danny's international comps as well, just maybe another look would be nice.

I plan on doing the YMSA's and the Tykes, it'd be a shame to have to miss 2 YMSA's because they overlapped with 2 Tyketrial rounds.

yes the comp is on the bank holiday monday we couldn't get the venue due to there being a moto trial the day before so we had to go for the monday so yeh i think that me dad put it on the monday, and i avn't checked the dates but i know that they are hard to move because a lot of the venues in the centre of the country are busy because most of them are a lot more heavily used by the motor bike lot. :)

well your obviously very set on these dates so theres nothing we can do this year but skip some of your trials. maybe next year you could liase with biketrialUK and sort the dates problem out. i understand moto trials has comps clashing with each other but this isn't moto trials its biketrials and theres more than enough weekends in the year for comps to not clash. all it takes is a little inter club liason (the whole point of biketrialUK yes?) and we can all make the most of all the hard work all the organisers put in...

hope your championships go well this year, just a shame more riders wont be able to do the whole series.

oh yeah and can you confirm a rumour i heard that ymsa are offering prize money for the comps this year?

Yes the trial is on a Monday!!!!! :S

The prize money is for the pro elite class ony at each round ( seeded riders only )

David Butler YMSA 06

does that not mean then that your son is going to walk away from every comp this season with a pocket full of cash? surely if your offering prize money to the elite it'd be nice to offer similar to the non elite even if its not as much. where do we find fuller details about the way the ymsa'a are being run this year? rules, prize's etc, membership, licenses etc etc...

Do you ever stop moaning?

I think prize money is a good idea, think how good the seeded elite class could be, you would have Dan,slinger, savage, aust, poyser, etc all going for it, so would be great to just watch. Also Dan said andrei is coming up to ride as well, money will attract the best riders to come and to every comp.

yer dates clashing is annoying, but i don't think it can be helped, its also good how YMSA have put a comp in august, usually club trials stop over the summer holliday period so that will be good, it also fills a 2 -3 week gap between world rounds, so it will make sure our riders stay on top.

Do you ever stop moaning?

yes i do thank you!

what i'm pointing out is how it would be nice if the same prize rules applied right through the comp. why not split the money throughout all the classes, surely £30 isn't going to draw in the big riders any more than normal?

i'm asking alot of questions because i find it hard to understand why the series has potentially crippled itself by running alongside the tykes. if you dont want the tykes boys there fair enough but i'm not into segregation in trials, i want every rider in the UK to ride together and in unity not bitching about each other etc and the only way this can happen is if we all work towards a common goal. the way i see the prize money thing is that dave has put prize money up for elite only, look at who enters elite and it happens to be his son. now i'm not bothered if thats his motivation or not and i don't really care but it certainly doesn't look good to lesser riders when the big boys get cash prizes and the rest of us dont.

i'm also a bit annoyed that i can't compete in a series i've been really looking forward to and excited about entering because their dates clash with the tykes.

theres alot of questions about this years ymsa's that are left un answered and in trying to pull the trials community together what we need is honestly and openess between riders, clubs and organisers. i may be the only one with the balls to come on the forum and ask the questions directly and out loud but everything i've said on here has been muttered by a number of other riders elsewhere.

in terms of the event in august i think thats brilliant. good on them for carrying on right through. hopefully i'll get to catch up with the odd ymsa here and there.

I see what your saying, but its the same at worlds, only prize money in the top category. Also most biketrial clubs are non-profit/little profit clubs, so there probably isn't enough money to spread down through the categories, I'd rather see it go to the top category and see the top riders turn up and ride. I don't think the younger kids need the prize money at that level either, i think a trophy is probably sufficient as a reward.

I also do tykes alongside ymsa and essex, and british as several others did last year, ill just have to fit it in. Also alot of the riders from down this end that ride at ymsa don't do tykes anyway. i can only think of a handful.

anyway enough moaning, spending too much time on here as im injured :( will be a great series!
