Todge
Took best part of 6 days. Thats 1 day to machine parts, 3 days building a jig accuratly, 2 days cutting tubes and brazing together. The tubing was fairly expensive, but its top notch stuff and really nice to work with. For a frames worth it probably cost £50-£60.Powdercoated finished was £10 with forks too.So easily under £70, but it does take time.
Rich Pearson
Is it illegal if he doesnt sell them, just coppies the design for his own use?Clive does have a patent on the design of the 360 dropout, but as far as I understand legal action can only be brought if Todge sells the frame to anyone. It would basically be making a profit off Clive and Kris's work designing and testing the 360 dropout. Might be an idea to give Clive buzz just to be sure on that one as I'm really not too sure.Frame looks the nuts man, reminds me of John (S's) original 24" with the choco brown colout scheme. Any custom stickers planned?Nice one. Rich
Heatsink
Nice one! Did you go for the 18 or 20 SWG tube in the end? Good to see all the info I put your way being put to great use. All the hard work actually realising the frame is where muchos Kudos is due!Is there really a patent on the Leeson 360deg dropouts? Although it's a nice idea, I'm not sure it matches the criteria for patentable ideas in terms of how "novel" it is, non-existance of "prior art" etc.Steve

David
Frame looks mint, why did you choose brazing over MIG welding?

Hobnobs
Looks good, but what makes it so heavy. Is it just the tubing?

Trebor
'kin hell, before I'd fully scrolled down I thought that pic of the jig was the frame and that you'd done some nutso box-section seatstay/continued toptube thing. Made a pleasant surprise seeing how ridiculously f**king swish the real deal is.Good work Yey I wasn't the only one that went through the same thing That looks very cleanly done. You must be uber proud Is there anything about it that you'd change now that you've made it? Just out of curiosity, with all that freedom of choice it must be hard to choose exactly how to produce the frame, what materials, methods etc.

Tomm
Looks good, but what makes it so heavy. Is it just the tubing? It ain't particularly heavy. Not when you think Levelbosses are around 5lbs, and Leesons are probably closer to
Steve-A
hat looks really nice and professional Hope it rides as good as it looks. As for the 360 droputs situation I'm sure when I was chatting to Clive bout it , he said there is no patent or similar on his design, hes just relyed on the good nature of people so far not to copy him. Maybe hes gone and got one since, seeing as everyone else seems to think differently.
Onza Kieron
That looks real sweet, sell them I say, make some with the horizontal dropouts and sell 'em! £150 has to be worth it, talking £80ish profit, if you enjoyed doing it that is. I wanted to make a frame, do you reckon its worth the hassle, I would wanna make something a bit more T-Rexy, and again well done.
Hobnobs
It ain't particularly heavy. Not when you think Levelbosses are around 5lbs, and Leesons are probably closer to 6 Are they Well fair enough, great job then. I wish i could have the time and skill to make my own frame, looks really rewarding.

Maybe hes gone and got one since, seeing as everyone else seems to think differently.Pretty sure if he aint already got one you cant go out and get one after it is in the public domain... so if there is no cover for him then there wont be from now on ... (? may be wrong but ...) anyway - if i were clive id be happy if other bike manufacurers used it - shows that its genius. and leeson frames are still the dogs danglies even if they arent the only frames with 360's.anyway - its a one off (unless you are gonna make a stab at a manufacturer ?) so im sure he couldnt be arsed to sue. Luke Rainbird
Sorry to make this thread sound like a broken record, but BLOODY HELL! That frame is the badger's nadgers mate, and I'm impressed! If you ever decided to produce them (and at the price it cost you to build/now that you've got the jig it would seem almost silly not to!) then I would almost certainly take one (or two) off your handsNice to see some top notch craftsmanship on the forum Edited April 20, 2008 by Monkey Boy
