Simpson
Thats is a great bike i started on one last easter, all the original components were good for backhops and pedal hopping off of objects. But i would urge you to get a new chainring and chain now to aviod "chain suck" to ditch the mumbo jumbo the chain gets pushed out crooked and kinks up into the frame with takes huge gulfs out of your frame! (just trust me on this one!)Of course as you get more serious you will want to spend money on your bike, there are wise ways to spend money and un-wise. Some wise choices such as getting some nice Vee brakes, not maggies with £18 e.t.c. 2nd hand hubs, wheels and components.I ended up snapping my Saracen on the chainstay and cracked it half the way round the headtube BUT (i didnt say this) i rode it "fairly" harsh but i would love another one that didnt snapp to be honestnow my bike only has stem and bars left standard on it now, oh and grips lol but i loved that bike while i had it!!!! luccosleeps
blackspire bashring mate, amazing bashring i think you can get 'em from www.chainreactioncycles.com or a good local bike shop should be able to get one in for you and they cost about £

Simpson
K thanks alot i must say the bash ring does look pretty naff compared to my mates...Chainring! the sprocket inside the bash ring which guides the chain round, the cranks will be fine for nowi run about 25psi however! because your a learner (if you are) then you may want to run a lower pressure to give a larger spread surface area of your tire as your rim wont get too damaged just hopping up and downyou want THAT ONE! in the 22t 4 hole version which luckily for you is in stock for £15 and a new KMC chain not a cool or anything just yet something you can run through your gears, if youve gone single speed get a kmc kool

Ben Jones
lol k thanks alot....would u suggest a 20" being better for a beginner to move around? or in the long term do u reckon 26" would be best?20" just look so much easier to keep up and munouver
Simpson
depends on age and build as a rough guess on the internet its hard.im quite big built and think mods feel really ponsy, i have riddern stock since i was 15 and just prefer it. feels more beef and more power lol if you feel good on a stock while change?i couldnt afford to change! lol

Simpson
Well my saracen was fully modifyed apart from forks so i simply switched all of the components across onto my control 1085 would have prefered the shorter 1 but got the longer one but im happy!i love it nice on the back wheel. all the components on the Saracen is shit you need to change EVERYTHING apart from bars and stems. which i have done no problems now!frame change is good and you will see the largest change in your riding genrally! Clarky
It's a good starter bike, just stick with it until you either grow out of it or nacker it lol.Clarky
Clawz114
i think we should come to a conclusion that saracen are good starter bikes...nothing else. firstly i got a team issue, then i snapped the frame...by the way the chain suck is true. then they sent me a 2.sixH frame and forks for free and i snapped that too...now i have a team urban frame and forks for free.bad things about the saracen m-a-d.frame.rear shimano hub.in fact both shimano hubs.the way the rear mech attaches to the frame.the rear mech itself.good things about the saracen m-a-d.truvativ crankset is amazing.forks are ok i suppose.maguras.grips...THEY ROCK, been riding with them for nearly a year now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!thats about it.Clawz
