Akira_Shock!
Tar does not damage the rim in anyway really, the thing that's more likely to happen is brake pads getting ripped off the backings and frame brake mounts getting stressed. To clean tar off, the best thing to use by far, is Disc brake cleaner, either Muc-Off's or Halfords, well any will do. But yeah, this is an alcohol spray that completely destroys tar, and you just need to wipe it off with a tissue. It evaporates too, and does not leave an oily residue like white spirit does!Pretty much ideal for tar-cleaning
wardie
no i doesnt damage your rims.and to get it off i use my mums stain devils on a bit of kitchen roll, but you gotta use the specific tar one( number 8 if i remember rightly).sam

Robwalker
Tar works great and no has neva done any harm to my rims ( i leave that to the heavy riding and big drops) and i found lighter fluid works really well, just let it soak for a bit and wipe off with a piece of tissue, easy as making babies rob
