biketrialler
Hey guys, for my foundation film course im taking at farnham at the moment, ive just made a music video to help promote a local band, and satisy the needs of the project which is about using multiple medias in one video piece - in this I use text, a song and a story played out by video. Was wondering if you would watch the video and let me know what you think of it... its my first music video, but im looking to possibly go into it as a business in a few years. I guess comment on the editing and style rather than on the song - I know full well a lot of you wont like it, but hey, it was practical, its my mates band, and they had just been recording. Linky - http://www.myspace.com/ashestoangelsits on that page, part way down...Cheers for anyone who puts a bit of time into telling me what they think! Cheers,Ben

Joe Papasnap Maher
I liked it, i liked it alot...I dont know what to say really, so ill just sum up my thoughts. The song...( i know im not meant to be commenting on that lol ) wasnt that bad actually. not the sort of music id choose to listen to, butr yer, it was alright. The 1st part of the film looked abit poo, just kind of them lot in a room...but then when u changed angle...to diffrent instruments,,that was decent...really good, going with the beat and everything. The story of it, is what kept me watching...it made me wanna see what was gonna happen next...after the clips of the band...so that was good.Lots of nice angles...and nicely thought out job.Ben Jordan for the winKeep it up dude.Dont get to big headed...you know it wasnt amazing, but to be honest ive seen far worse go out on tele, ill tell you that now.1st stepping stone for you, and its defiantly going in the right direction
Synergy
agree with mostly all what joe maher said.however i totally enjoyed it, you can get songs which are good but the videos put you off (if that makes sense ) but not this one the edditng was good, liked the idea, the acting wasnt exactly hollywood stuff but that was to be expected all in all i wud give 8-9 out of ten (ttly serious) i would buy there album (if they have one).keep up good work and keep us up to date with more vids etc
CurtisRider
i agree, the acting wasnt top notch, but im guessing that wont go againt you as you will be marked on fillimg and editing? anyway, nice attempt, i felt alot of the lighting seemed wrong, the angles and stuff were good but the lighting let it down. i really liked the section with the band floodlit, looked quite coolpotentially that could be a really good video, perhaps going back and refilming a few bits and changing the begining good luck with it, you have some nice ideas and hopefully after a few more videos, they will look tons better
Max Quinn
Yer tht looked really good, i liked it.As other people have said though the start wasn't as good as the rewst of the vid and it looked to me like most of the changes between angles were out of time with the music in that section? Not sure if that was on purpose or not...Overall nice one though i liked it, Max.
Krisboats
It was o.k.the basist looks a bit like an etheopian though because he's so skinny. What would have made it better would be to have actually made that guy get wankered, because its amazingly hard to act drunk... it just always looks fake. I also think the clip of the two people walking through the park was too long and slow for the music.. you should have changed to different angles as they were wlaking along so it fitted the song more.Apart from that though it was good. biketrialler
Cheers for the comments guys, this is all really useful stuff keep it coming. Im not by any bit trying to make excuses but this whole video has been planned and filmed and edited in less than a week, I got the brief for it last Tuesday (2nd Feb) so thats why some of it isnt perfect. The bit in my room, the blue room was meant to be shots of them while recording but some of the guys at the studio were ill on the day we needed to film that so unfortunately we had to do it at my house just to get it done. The acting was fair enough average, as they were a few of my mates willing to step in on free evenings When im doing proper videos for bands in the future I hope to be able to organise some professional actors, again that was a time based problem! heheLighting, yeah, fair enough some of it was pretty dark like in the bedroom where he gets angry - i'll look into some professional lighting with future paychecks (yeh, I noticed you can see a shadow of the camera when they are making out )The bit on the roof top was a complete fluke of an idea using car headlights rather than proper lighting pods! Glad you liked itTiming in the first bit, admittedly im a drummer - so most of the drum bits are in time, apart from one of the rolls - I dont know about the guitar too much, I was just told by their guitarist that it all looked in pretty good time, i'll look into learning the instrument a bit to get more of a grasp on picking and strumming - I imagine that would help me a lot in the future. As for drunkeness hehe, I wasnt giving my mate all my booze to drink up for the vid Keep em coming guys.the basist looks a bit like an etheopian though because he's so skinny.Oh yeah, and er... wha? I dont get your point! lol. I cant change their bassist. Although I can suggest a new diet! Edited February 10, 2006 by Bennifer
