sexymike
Firstly, well done to CRC for free PNP but i just recived a stem from Supercycles which i sent back on a half price renew basis *return and onza product thats damaged and buy a new 1 for half price wich is a Excellent idea, shows you how much profit they make - wonder if tarty bikes offer that?*anyway, i sent the stem out and it cost me 97P in stamps, as i recivied the very same stem i presume it costs exactly the same, maybe possibly a couple of pence up or down. trouble is, they charged me 3 quid to send it back, now i appreciate the envelope packet may cost something (probably about 5P) but they sent it in a second hand one :Si rang them and the guy *who didnt seem very happy, at all* said its probably labour charges, got me thinking if a shop that big cant see the cost of probably One person going to the post office * i assume they do 1 daily postal run* then im appauled.Kin rediculas, Also, Kudos to tarty for offering a postage cost where u get charged what it costs them i think phil is 2 quid per order too ! thats good sutff from the 'smaller' shopsrant over
totaltrials
hmmm that's quite harsh, i'm sure they would have had a royal mail van collect it from them aswell and I doubt it was the only parcel they posted that day, kind of strange, but I'd also be pretty certain they are making money from the half price they charged you Mike.Phil. I think it says that in the terms and conditions of the tartybikes site.Quite a few places charge for postage if you buy things online, wiggle do. I don't like it much either. Guest
Kin rediculas, Also, Kudos to tarty for offering a postage cost where u get charged what it costs them Cleanbikes offer the same sorta thing I think. I'd say the £3 is just a standard rate for most postal stuff from them, saves time rather than having to work out a postal price for each individual component.I notice your site has postage of £1 for 'all' orders, 'no matter how much you order.' Best get that sorted before I order 2 frames, 3 set's of forks, and 2 pairs of wheels, all to northern ireland.
Dan6061
Most shops have like £3 for all items posted. So you're getting ripped off if you bought say, a headset spacer. But a good deal on something like a frame.
robonatomz
they should charge postage from on line shops, because there prices are too cheap and the normal ibd's cant compeat on prices.i say to iradicate this problem. dont buy from the internet call in to your local friendly bike shop and buy it from there. S they may cost a little more. but there is no postage, no postage to return it if its falty and you get to talk face to face with a guy that knows whats goin on. also it keeps us hard working cycle shop employies in a job! lolrob
ogre
I agree with onzabob, i try to buy things from bikeshops, but sometimes i have been messed around by shops, (watin 3 months for a booster), but as a rule i will buy stuff from shops (i.e. parts that i'm not sure on how to use, put in/onto my bike) but with something like a booster that is prety simple to put on and is 5 quid less then i will go online for it. although i agree somepeople to realy f**k you on postage! Mark W
Including the £5 DVD I was trying to buy? And the £4.99 cable? etc. Get raped for small items, and get a deal with the larger ones. C'est la vie.

Village Idiot
Yeah the postage seems a bit weird on the Supercycles site.Went to order 2 mech hangers, added them to basket and it displayed postage £3. I took 1 out and went back to the basket. Now it said postage £1.It was cheaper to order them seperately which I found very odd considering there'd be two lots of postage and packaging to pay for. I don't know what would have happened if I'd order over the phone - whether it would be the same or not.
Mark W
Often it's done by weight, so if the lower weight bracket was £1, and then two mech hangers was slightly over that it went into the £3 bracket, then it would work out cheaper like that. e.g., it's £6 to post a Creepy Crawler, and £6 to post a pair, 'cos they're in the same postage bracket (1kg+, I think?). It cost me £6 or so to post a Luna tyre, so you get a good deal if you buy 2...

tomturd
Surely its good business sense to offer low/free postage. You may lose money initially... but after your sales increase from offering lower postage than everywhere else, it'll pay off. See CRC/Play.com for an example. EDIT: you're also not turning potential customers away who get put off by the high postage...Same with ebay, sold a few copies of lost on there, free postage and ended up selling them for sometimes twice the price of people selling them with £1 postage

Mark W
i would seriously check ur prices on thatseriously It was £6 for one mod tyre, so for the full build it'd be fairly close...
Guest
i would seriously check ur prices on thatseriouslyGet me a cheaper quote and prove me wrong......If we are going to be precise, its £47.00 including VAT from Hertfordshire to N. Ireland for a box 120 x 70 x 20. Perhaps you'd ship out a full build in a few differant boxes, but it's going to add up to a fair amount... When I called DHL and gave them the particulars, they quoted upwards of £140 , Parcel2Go said they wont transport anything to N.I bigger than 6 Cubic feet. I rang the post office helpline, lady said that they simply wouldn't post it, far too big. Parcel force - Same answer. All im saying is, to keep yourself out of any hassle with faggoty buyers, put in a statement that the £1 postage isn't applicable to outside mainland UK or something... Waynio
i dont know if you have all done this BUT..............if you go onto "Parcelforceworldwide" blah blah, you can get quotes off there of "how much it will cost to send" thats what i do and iv sent many items out to Auz, New Zealand, Ireland, Czech, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, DONT fill in the "Size" box JUST quote it off the weight, also parcel force and the "post office" are sort of the same company as far as i am aware, as sometimes i get quotes for smaller items in smaller boxes and it says in the box "please take to your local Post Office"but id take a guess at a bike in a box weighing around 10/12Kg, a mod would easily be the light side of 10 ish Kg, plus!!! if its collected from you they dont actually weigh it, so if its a bike in particular YOU can physically FLICK!!!! the post office/parcelforce. as the driver JUST comes to pick the item up he/she doesnt weigh it.Waynio............................il get a quote and edit this below wont be a mo.EDIT: please could someone give me a "post code" from northern ireland please???? just so i can get a quote. as i think northern ireland comes under being part of UK as its not in any of the other searches. unless it just doesnt do them boohoo. ALTHO i could get a price off ANC too there a good delivery company. Edited February 5, 2006 by Waynio
Guest
BT19 1ARBetter to include as much info as possible to get the most accurate quote, a block of metal 10KG, is going to be smaller than a mod bike.... I used the post office calculator and parcel force, both came up with quotes of about £20,but you have to phone them to actually arrange collection, it's then you realises that they won't send it, if you havnt allready read the terms of service...
