:ermm: i'm lost. this was some time ago though, but it was some kind of exam which you write when you graduate.

yeah there is absolutely nothing you have to write to graduate unfortunately.

To graduate you just have to go to class...

To get into college you take standardized test, these are 2-4 hour long tests that quiz you on a large variety of different questions.

that is, unless "some time ago" meant in the early 80s/ late 70s.

dude read what you just wrote, it's absolutely hilarious. Everyone knows where space ships leave from :hsugh: .

Geography is probably the last thing on anyones mind when launching.

btw, 99% of americans are astronauts

Yeah, Lots of hurricans and floods in colorado. I'm only a few thousand miles away from any sort of large body of water.

Oddly enough geography is not just knowing the name of where something happens. If at the age of 24 (it's 24 right?) you don't know what geography is I wonder what you've learned, apart from how to make amazing videos.

However little geography matters at launch is irrelevant if on re-entry you can't tell whether that was africa or america you just flew past.

Oh and no wonder your space program costs so much if 99% of you are in it.

I also really appreciate the 'it doesn't affect me yet so I'm not going to care' attitude, real responsible and mature.

So if you live so far from the sea you'll appreciate it when global warming evaporates you're water supply.

Face it global warming is everybodies problem.

Honestly, go talk and try to reason with a 5 year old. Bottle up the feelings you get and open the jar later- that is just how I feel trying to talk to you. Might want to spend some more time in school or wear a helmet more while riding (I'm not sure what it is, but I feel horrible for you)... I can't even argue with you because you don't understand what I'm saying

oh my god its so hilarious.....my 11 year old niece could easily crush you in a debate on the US space program.

Oddly enough being in my last year of school and studying 3 advanced highers (which are harder than A-levels) on maths chemistry and physics (rumour has it I could complete one of your "degrees" with my current knowledge EDIT this being because they're glorified common sense) you may find I have a much better idea of how the world works than you imagine.

Tell me how you're supposed to find a landing strip if the person who programmed the auto pilot has no idea of how the rest of the earth looks because "that's for little boys". They won't have a clue who to notify they will have a large lump of metal falling out the sky in their airspace and that it is not missile and that shooting it down would be a mistake, because they have no idea where the rest of the world is.

Face it geography is important, without geography all the lovely tankers of oil wouldn't be able to get to America.

Also quit moaning about how big your country is, Africa is on the same sort of scale and there they walk for 3 or 4 hours to get to school.

Oh and I'll be very interested to have a debate with your niece on the basics of astro physics, might learn something. :P

Also on global warming, just because the world's water supply is shrinking doesn't matter, because instead of trying to reduce the damage we do to the atmosphere and to our health by polluting the air we'll just go to war and take what we wants when it runs out.

And Mark it is going to happen, in fact it is happening, most likey won't be too big a problem for the next 40 yeats, but it's going to get worse, and I for one care about the world my children will live in.

Just to satisfy my personal sense of irony, lets have a vote: Post YES if a ) you think Tony Blairs doing a good job and would honestly vote for him next time round and b ) if you can name all 39 English counties without looking them up (I think its 39 but may be wrong on that point.)

How different do you really think we are from Americans? If we're so much better and intelligent that them, how come their government effectively has had our Parliament in the palm of their hand for the last 3 years? Would you rather have Tony Blair or George Bush? I'm genuinely interested in peoples responses to these questions as there is no sarcasm intended at all.

I've been to the U.S before and a lot of them may be fat, a lot of them may have not given a damn about the atmosphere or the sea level, but I'll tell you, they were a f**ksight more sociable then 90% of British people I've met.

Until about a year ago I didn't know the difference between the U.S.A, America, and North America.

Just to clarify as most people seem to have taken several comments in this thread the wrong way, but not one of the questions I've just asked or comments I've made is sarcastic in any way.

I can't but the difference is that we're not as patriotic I believe an anyay I can name most of the regions of Scotland.

Because the U.S is a super power? Lots of money and power, and they're not as stupid as people think.

Well, I think thats not always true, I've come across a lot of friendly people here. I don't care if they are fat, it's their health insurance bill. But I do think they should at least care about the environmet for the sake of the heritage that they will hand on.

I'd just like to clarify that the only reason I got involved in this thread was because I feel that some sciences were being undervalued, something I can't stand.

There are only a few things in America or to do with America I care about. The damage to the environment is one, don't get me wrong I'm no green freak, but I feel that as much as can be done should be.

I am also very appreciative of some of the excellent research and work done in many fields.

There are other things they do, but listing them would be a pain and could spark off a debate/argument.

Basically I don't hate America (and I hope it didn't come accross that way) but I do hate ignorance in any form, it should not be allowed to exist for it causes everything from wars to murder.

Anyway enough rambling, I'm sure I'll be able to explain myself when people poke holes in this, feel free to.
