wayneone
Ive been considering recently a change in bike sizes. I currently have a Onza t-rex which is great but i think its a bit too long and i think a 24" would be lots of fun.Now the question i want to ask is what bits can i salvage from a t-rex onto say a zoot, Of course a new frame and rims will be needed but is there anything else that is 24" only?Just in case i will spec out my t-rex belowBrakes: x2 magura 05Bars: ONza t-master flat barStem: Standard Onza oneForks: Lite guyHubs: XT front, Hope bulb rearMech: Locked out soraCranks: Tensile + bash(170mm)Pedals: Onza hognesiumsGrips: Try-all foamChain: standard 9 speedBB: What ever one comes with a spec 2 t-rex
The Dude
its pretty simple really, the only parts you want to replace are:XC front hub, so you know you can rely on your front wheel.buy a new chainring, cassette, mech and chain, the difference youll notice will be unrealcan get a new BB, just to make it run smoother, but its not essential.the rest of the parts would all fit onto a 24" with ease, just take care putting it together, and get someone else to build the wheels, you should be fine.if youve got a hope of king headset, keep it, if not, buy a new oneas for the trialsy bars, they should feel fine on a zoot as its quite long and low (but downsized)Si
Tomm
You'll also need to change tyres and forks if you want to run a rim brake. With a disc there's no need to change

(or perhaps I have)I believe he wants to know what parts are 24inch friendly... not what parts you think are whack. You can get away with only changing the rims, spokes and forks... you might have to get a new BB and you might find your chainring is the wrong size for 24. Thats all.EDIT: tyres and tubes too Edited January 28, 2006 by nichols_sam
